How many times do we concede goals from headers inside the 6 yard box because Howard is rooted to his line instead of coming out to claim it? It's costing us time and time again.
Ironically, those times he should stay on his line, he's often miles off it, leading to more goals conceded. For example the 2-0 defeat at home to Sunderland towards the end of last season. He was miles off his line for both goals, but if he stayed on his line he'd have had two easy saves. And before the pro-Howard brigade start saying, "damned if he does, damned if he doesn't," it's all about judging when to come, when to stay and where to position yourself. Howard's judgement is terrible.
With a good keeper, we'd be outsiders for a top four slot, but with Howard we have no chance. I'm amazed Martinez didn't address this in the summer.
