 have i mis-read that?

what do you want Kenwright to do in that situation?

ok enough of the kenwright bashing.

back on topic, i think distin will be a great signing. we need someone now to play. lets be honest, he is huge. a real quality center back. a better defender than lescott for sure.

5 million is perhaps a couple of mill over his proper price, but joleon lescott for 22 million?

we have done very well out of this deal. and there is money over for moyes to identify a long term replacement for lescott.

Can't say I'm overly happy with paying £5m for a 31 year old defender, but we could still get 3 or 4 good years out of him. He does look built like a brick sh1thouse.

As long as we can still bring in another couple of younger players at RB and RM then I guess it would be OK overall.

for a plug and play known quantity, $5mil is not too much. not every signing has to be a prospect that Moyes has a hunch on. the situation demanded we find: immediate game-ready CB with jags out, competition/cover for yobo for the rest of the season, depth at CB in medium term (3 years) for Rodwell or other to step in.

$5mil to meet all 3 of those requirements in today's market is a steal.

made up weve signed a left footed centre baclk to be honest. we have always looked much better bringing the bll out of defence with a natrual left footer at centre back ... makes the angles easier.
2 down 2 to go ??

Good solid defender. He's not worth the fee quoted though.

Yeah, but Lescott wasn't worth 24 million or whatever the final figure was!

4/5m isn't bad considering they didn't want to sell him and he was just recently assigned club captain.

Never had any major injury issues - averages out at 40.7 matches a season since 2000 (364 matches over 9 seasons).

Goal return's not brilliant - only 5 in the same time - but that's not what he's here for!

Good solid signing......No way was Lescott worth that....Another 2 or 3 solid signings before Sept 1st will be just the job....
