I'm all for letting people do whatever "floats their boat for the most part" Just get bothered by all the nonsense sprouted off about how great is as a medicine, you can't OD, its natural and healthy, etc. Smoking anything will damage your lungs and increase risk for lung cancer no matter what it is you're smoking, it helps with the nausea from chemo true, and as someone mentioned theres links to the oil working on tumors but it doesn't "Treat cancer" as some like to say. If people want to legalize it, tax it and regulate it like cigarettes I can see the argument but its not this "wonderful medical drug" some pro-leaglizers bang on about haha I know tons of people personally who go on about the medicial qualitys, etc who just smoke for the hell of it haha. just be up front about it

Just one of hundreds of testimonies on youtube.

The cancer curing aspect is redundant in this instance as well IMO. There is an ingredient in weed (not the hallucagen) that is shown to reduce tumour size in lab mice. This means that this ingredient would need to be isolated and sold as medicine rather than rolling a joint, baring in mind these studies are probably still years off human testing.

Massive area, GWP are the leaders, but other companies are available

*disclaimer - I'm biased here.

Once the dam is opened, they'll all come flooding through and it'll be junkie paradise. Just take the names of the 200,000 and lock them up...........
Fair point. But... doesn't the present law criminalise a lot of people for something which is morally no worse than having a pint or a glass of wine, or a ciggy?
If yer know yer history, Cannabis was made illegal in about 1928 after a League of Nations conference aimed at restricting heroin and cocaine heard from an Egyptian delegate that Egyptian workers were lazy because they smoked hemp. The speaker rather overlooked the role of malnutrition. But the Western powers were glad to see a developing nation being so responsible - people were still pretty raw after the Great War, and the League of Nations was all states working together for the first time - and so it was bundled up with the dangerous drugs.
I think Holland has it about right.
Perhaps Liverpool could become the Amsterdam of the North.

Gave it up some years ago for the main reason that 99% of the time it is mixed with tobacco and is therefore effectively another way of smoking cigarettes, but even more strongly as usually no filter is used. Anyone who thinks that smoking it with tobacco as most people do is not harmful is seriously deluding themselves.

Having said that there is no good reason for it not being at least decriminalised, as when consumed on it's own it can have beneficial effects on health.

The amount of times I've heard "it's good for you" when smoking one mixed with tobacco. Also had a mate tell me he had given up fags as he smoked one with half a B&H in it.

Didn't Bob Marley die from cancer?

Rare form of skin cancer I think ?

Chances are, the carcinogens in weed will increase risks of cancer in broadly similar ways to tobacco, except most people smoke less weed than the equivalent ciggies so there are no hard and fast rules.

If tobacco and alcohol were illegal and cannabis was legit, then people would doubtless use similar arguments to argue for the legalisation of tobacco and booze as they do for cannanis today.

I smoke almost daily. Except when I travel for work, unless that travel is local - in which case I'll bring it with me, if I have to get on a plane, it stays at home.
I buy an oz at a time and it lasts around 6months.
I'm quite a hyper lad most of the time and those that know me (and know I smoke) tell me I'm much more calm when smoking. Even Mrs Mudguard (who was at one point quite a strong adversary is now supporting me).
So obviously I'm on the legalize it immediately bandwagon, for many reasons:
  • The fella I buy it off is a dodgy as they come - no doubt he's carrying a gun in his car when we meet.
  • The quality can be controlled - thus those that enjoy stronger strains can buy them, those that require lower levels of THC can do so also.
  • The taxes that would undoubtedly be levied could be put to good use.
  • Weed dealers would be fundamentally closed down.
I have been to Denver, CO and Seattle, WA recently - both places it's legal. I visited stores in each city and was able to buy a small amount (being out of state they have a limit on how much you can buy) for each trip. It was excellent. I was able to chose a strain that I preferred - Indica v Sativa v Hybrid - without fear of being robbed, mugged or worse.

Every joint I saw rolled had tobacco in it.

Anyway I voted no because weed is evil and you should all feel bad for using it.

Tobacco's often used as a filler in a joint because it's cheap. That's really the only reason. I gave up tobacco years ago and still had the occassional, baccie free spliff.

I've never officially quit cannabis, but got put off by the stupid strength of modern variants. These days I prefer a glass of red or whisky, neither of which are without risk.
