I noticed my dual 600 series was coming to the end of high performance lifetime this year so I went for a 900 series the top one currently.
You get about two years. Then I'd say they move into the "good performance band". Two years after that average/poor and you need an upgrade.

On topic - see on that MSI you've got, is that the 2 or 4GB 850 or am I mistaken? Currently on the lookout for a new laptop, and it has to be a gaming one this time, so looking at some of the MSI's and Asus' ROG series...

Not an aboslute beast but can play all games at 1080p 60fps.
Today..well for the last 2 months I been mostly playing Kerbal Space Programme. Astounding game / sim. If you wanna build Rockets, space planes or Space stations....fly em in the solar system or terrafirm to distant worlds this game will rock your world. Monster monster .....etc
DD you could do a fairly cheap and easy memory upgrade to max 16GB DDR3
up from 8.

Not saying buy that memory but look for good quality equivalent.
