John Stones transfer saga

Well that's actually what happened anyways. All Chelsea fans got painted with this brush by many.

I can understand the frustration but people need to realise that when any agent of Chelsea have spoken about Stones to the media, it's because the media asked a direct question about Stones. Same with Martinez talking about Lukaku when he was a CFC player. If anyone can point out to me of some sort of press release Chelsea have put out about stones, or any unprompted talk about Stones by Chelsea agents, then I will apologize for the actions of the club/club representative.

Not for me, but I wouldn't pay these sums for Stones right now. Let's say he has a world class season, I don't see his value rising much from what it currently is. Too much for someone so unproven at this point in my opinion.

I would also rate Varane and Zouma ( partly why I'm not so fussed about Stones staying) as better prospects, off the top of my head, and if wanted a young English prospect, i think Dier offers better value for the money that would be expected (in I feel he is similar to Stones but with less mistakes and a far lower fee would be expected) but that's just my own personal opinion.

I think the money bandied about for Stones is ridiculous. We watch Stones every match, and mostly believe he'll be something special despite the occasional brainfart. I was never annoyed at Chelsea biding, it was the spreading it about the public domain, and despite Martinez saying not for sale it was pushed and pushed again. The initial rejection was still made public by Mourinho for his own teams gain. Lukaku was a player that he wanted shut of. Everton have made it patently clear from day 1 we didn't want to sell (well, as far you could tell without being privvy to board-level communications).
I have no idea why Zouma and Kalas aren't being pushed on (Love Kalas if only for that game against the RS)

Just gonna throw my two pennies worth in on this whole sorry situation but they told Chelsea in July he wasn't for sale they wouldn't take no for an answer tho cos mourinhos a spoilt brat and needs his english quota and they think by flashin the ruskis cheque book they can get what they want thats why Martinez has gone all steely eyed (made up with this by the way) given that Chelsea have took it public kept bidding even when told he wasn't for sale getting their players to do interviews saying he should go there and the media on the payroll constantly stating he's goin there for xyz million pounds to the point where the kids heads that battered hes handing in transfer requests and burstin in tears in front of supporters last night at a motorway service station the prem is run now by two foreign billionaires who think they can basically do what they want because they're rich everyone should be behind us for standing up to them, they wont like, and if the FA had any balls somethin would be done about what has been a public tapping up of out contracted player for nearly 2 months now be some atmosphere when we play them on the 12th Operation Goodison Bearpit!
Wait till we get Mourinho and his beauts at Goodison, forza Everton

We've got the chance to popcorn the popcorn king here....

Offer Stones to Dynamo Kyiv for 6 months, as a make-weight in the Yarmolenko deal. So Stones plays for Kyiv against Chelsea in the CL (they've been drawn in the same group tonight, for those unaware).

I'd love to see Mourinho's reaction to that.

I remember when I could do drugs on week nights.
:p

If I have to apologize for every Mourinho deception/contradiction he puts out into the media, my fingers will snap off.

NEA if you apologize mate but will you at least acknowledge how this is not comparable to Martinez/Lukaku or us buying Stones in the first place (as many CFC fans have claimed over and over again)?

We said "not for sale" in writing and Mourinho bid anyway.

We tried to keep the bid secret and Mourinho made it public anyway.

He deliberately lied in the press to keep things going.

None of those three things AFAIK were true with our purchase of Stones (who was considering an offer from Martinez at Wigan too so they accepted multiple offers) or Lukaku.

Another club reportedly respected the stance (so don't give me that "this is how things work" nonsense as another club did not stoop so low).

Is it illegal within football? Probably yes but it happens so often nobody does anything.

But all that aside ... the real wind up is the whole "you did the same exact thing with Lukaku and Stones" nonsense. That's far from the mark.

Then the incredulity that we're upset about this. We've had two months disrupted because Mourinho didn't respect our stance that he wasn't for sale. We've gone from a player who was happy here to unhappy and lord knows the impact on the rest of the players (and staff and fans). Illegal or not of course any set of fans would be upset by that turn of events FFS. I mean honestly.

I hope that somehow we can keep hold of Stones, not just for now, but for many years to come and see Everton return to the pinnacle of English football. I say this with a view to future generations of fans. My father has sadly found out that his cancer is inncurrable, having spread beyond it's initial diagnosis. Beyond my generation nobody in my family supports Everton. The lack of success and my siblings marrying into families of United fans makes it increasingly difficult.

When we are long gone Everton will still remain, I just hope she gets the treatment deserved rather than being ridiculed by the likes of Jason Cundy and other no mark mouthpieces of the media.

Heartbroken.

Mourinho is a past master st not answering questions he doesn't like, even threatening to walk out if the journos continur to press for an asnwer - he did with the Carniero situation and he also switched to no comment re Stones once Martinez complained about it. He chatted about Stones when the first bids went in because he wanted to.

Martinez has done the same, not re Lukaku as our clubs were negotiating behind the scenes over the sale and completed the transfer 4 days later in any case, but when he was at Wigan re a Crystal Palace player that they refused to sell.
