John Stones transfer saga

Well that's actually what happened anyways. All Chelsea fans got painted with this brush by many.

I can understand the frustration but people need to realise that when any agent of Chelsea have spoken about Stones to the media, it's because the media asked a direct question about Stones. Same with Martinez talking about Lukaku when he was a CFC player. If anyone can point out to me of some sort of press release Chelsea have put out about stones, or any unprompted talk about Stones by Chelsea agents, then I will apologize for the actions of the club/club representative.

Not for me, but I wouldn't pay these sums for Stones right now. Let's say he has a world class season, I don't see his value rising much from what it currently is. Too much for someone so unproven at this point in my opinion.

I would also rate Varane and Zouma ( partly why I'm not so fussed about Stones staying) as better prospects, off the top of my head, and if wanted a young English prospect, i think Dier offers better value for the money that would be expected (in I feel he is similar to Stones but with less mistakes and a far lower fee would be expected) but that's just my own personal opinion.
The thing with lukaku was he actually came here and played for everton on loan, correct me if I'm wrong but all Martinez said was we'd love to have him back but that's up to his parent club. Stones has no affiliation with Chelsea and players like Cahill and terry came out publicly about stones joining Chelsea. Thank you for writing out a decent post though and being civil

It was a joke. My comedy needs to be more obvious it seems. Feel like Stewart lee on mock the week ffs.

Flippin' eck, I bet you wish you never posted your banter now!

Don't worry, I got the joke. But I'll feel left out if I don't slag you off as well, so I'll say that your comedy is too low brow for me - it's like bum jokes.

Sticking up for Chelsea a bit much there fella.

Well not exactly what you asked for mate but there is this:

“If one day Roberto, or the chairman, come and say: ‘He’s not for sale, we don’t accept any bid’, [then it's] game over. So during this process, it’s clear." - Mourinho.

That was well over a month ago back in mid-July. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/chelseas-john-stones-transfer-chase-6092824

There is a rumour that we told Chelsea in writing after the first bid (maybe even before the first bid but after an inquiry?) that he was not for sale. We didn't make it public at the time to avoid a saga (mission accomplished!).

(Also you lot should note another club enquired about Stones, we sent them the same letter and they did back off. So our strategy of this private "not for sale" letter worked with that club who respected our stance. So, you know, the fact we've had this entire saga distracting our players all summer is because Mourinho didn't respect our word that he wasn't for sale while another club did.)

Even if that particular rumour isn't true (that would be significant because it would mean Mourinho made that statement after he had already been told exactly that by EFC which would make it a truly astounding comment) there are multiple instances since then when Roberto said he wasn't for sale. The bids and talk continued.

So that seems like a total lie by Mourinho. Frankly it doesn't even bother me that much -- there effectively isn't even a rule against tapping up ... it happens in every transfer. I mean it does bother but not in a "he lied! he lied" way ... of course he lied he's Mourinho. Just don't try to sell me a story that this and Martinez & Lukaku is the same situation because that's demonstrably false.

There is a difference between Martinez & Lukaku and Mourinho & Stones in that regard. Martinez was never told to back off by Chelsea. Martinez never said he would if X happened, then X happened and he didn't back off anyway. It's very different.

I also pointed this out over on one of your message boards and had my post pulled over there because "it wasn't about John Stones." It was indeed about John Stones but also included that Mourinho content (over half their posts are exclusively about Martinez and aren't pulled from the thread). I know our mods will treat you a lot better than yours treated me.

Mate. If you look back at some of the things that have gone on down the years you can.

There's a reason our fans spend more time worrying over a transfer window than looking at who we are signing.

Memories of selling the family silver.

That trauma never leaves you.
It's totally absurd to suggest the club wanted Stones to hand in a transfer request. Full stop.

It frustrates me no end that these Machiavellian, tin-pot conspiracy theories get wound up with the genuine, considered criticism of the board.

It's exactly this that turns the majority of our fan base off the idea of change in the boardroom.

"is it true they still owe us 15 mil from the lukaku deal?"

"Apparently Marina has been putting the squeeze on, they also have to pay Burnley wherever Stones goes before contract end."

frustration kicking in LOLOLOLOLO

Burnley???

15 million? ?

Despiration kicking in.

Thanks to you lot in turn for the civility too.

Just gonna throw my two pennies worth in on this whole sorry situation but they told Chelsea in July he wasn't for sale they wouldn't take no for an answer tho cos mourinhos a spoilt brat and needs his english quota and they think by flashin the ruskis cheque book they can get what they want thats why Martinez has gone all steely eyed (made up with this by the way) given that Chelsea have took it public kept bidding even when told he wasn't for sale getting their players to do interviews saying he should go there and the media on the payroll constantly stating he's goin there for xyz million pounds to the point where the kids heads that battered hes handing in transfer requests and burstin in tears in front of supporters last night at a motorway service station the prem is run now by two foreign billionaires who think they can basically do what they want because they're rich everyone should be behind us for standing up to them, they wont like, and if the FA had any balls somethin would be done about what has been a public tapping up of out contracted player for nearly 2 months now be some atmosphere when we play them on the 12th Operation Goodison Bearpit!

*shakes head*

You know what is happening with Murphy.

His beloved RS couldn't stand up to Wee Reem, his agent and Citeh.

They will be fuming that we stood up to one of their hated "oil clubs".

The RS Fumometer has comfortably passed Frustration and could reach Outrage status by Monday with Mass Hysteria nailed on for 6.05pm Tuesday if Stones is still a Blue (fingers crossed, pulling up a chair).

If I have to apologize for every Mourinho deception/contradiction he puts out into the media, my fingers will snap off.

Well, at least we are all clear about your position.
