If they via his agent in any way encourage him not to play... or break his contract

There's grounds for legal action

Breaking an employment contract ? Would be laughed out of court

As for the bit about encouraging him not to play then I would suggest based on last nights events again that would be laughed out of court but irrespective there is no evidence that I and would suggest you have seen that would support such an allegation

I think Martinez is more annoyed at the media's propaganda, they would of made North Korea proud.
Everywhere you look/listen/read you got some ex top 4 footballer talking crap. You've got papers printing lies, and then you got SS and TS doing the same.
Chelsea bidded for him nothing wrong with that. Only thing they did wrong was their players talked about him

If you handed your notice in to move to a another firm for more money at the busiest time of year and your boss followed you home shouting abuse at you, that would be ok?

Giving someone abuse for putting his own interests above that of his employer is stupid, naive and hypocritical unless you can hand on heart say you would do the same.
if you were contracted to work one place but got a better offer then your employer could tell you no chance and you would have to be professional. On top of that there are a lot of people, me included, who feel they wouldn't leave Everton no matter what was on offer elsewhere so even if it doesn't sound like common sense it is passion. I would rather it came out the way it did with Baines and we show the lad he is needed though so I agree but just still think lets not make it sound like Stones is behaving in a totally reasonable manner

So it was alright when Everton players talked about Lukaku coming to Everton in the gap between when his loan period ended and his eventual transfer?

Others earlier in the thread defended that situation by stating the fact that he wanted to leave Chelsea and join Everton

So someone on a fixed term contract in employment is told by his employer he can't leave for what the employee considers a better option. Isn't that akin to slavery?

The issue isn't that Stones can't leave its to do with compensation for his registration to play football

wasn't perfect and I am sure he got a telling off, but Lukaku had been here and Chelsea did seem to be putting him in the shop window. Despite right or wrong of that I think people are not saying that this is a black and white situation just very extreme in the Stones saga and I think there is a point when we should say enough or the game becomes nonsense. This feels like that point to me. Stones going was mentioned constantly in the commentary last night and every other minute on the radio and in press, with no balance.

seriously,no, it is not even close to slavery. It is a professional obligation that shows you have responsibility in the workplace

The real 'rat' at Everton is that horrible fan who filmed that <expletive> swearing at Stones last night, then posted the video on social media, making it look like all the fans at Barnsley were on Stones back.

They weren't at all, practically everyone there cheered him. His first few touches of the ball were heavily cheered.

He was also applauded off at full time, and Stones himself made a point of applauding back - something Lescott absolutely and famously never did.

It annoys me how people are trying to portray this and tar everyone with the same brush. 99% of EFC fans weren't on Stones back last night at all.

we could argue that some contracts have similar attitudes towards slavery but they are usually the ones that offer no security and no living wage

The rules state that your not allowed to talk about another clubs player as a player. I have no idea if our players did or not, so can't comment on that
