John Stones transfer saga

The Echo are still going on about why we need to keep him, so they obviously haven't been briefed by the club to spin it any other way. We really need to hear an official comment on this today though.
This makes it out to be all Stones' doing.
So the club can spin the "he left us at a bad time" line.

He's put in a transfer request and everyone assumes it's Chelski he wants to go to. Has that been confirmed? Or is there a new name waiting in the wings like Stoke or Newcastle?

Not yet, but if Man Untied were to throw their hat in the bidding ring... Well that would see the fun begin and the Chelsea fume would be entertaining... £50 million and rising... And we should still say nowt till after the window closes !!

No we do not !
This is all about brinksmanship and who flinches first.
Stones is contracted... He cannot go without our agreement.
We don't want to sell him.
We do not have to respond publicly.
We keep quiet.
Chelsea fume... Sky fume... The papers fume...
We keep quiet.
Jesse Mourinho fumes and cries to Roman to break the bank.
Roman rings BK, BK says Hi Roman, no deal, da svidanya.
We keep quiet and the clock ticks by.
The transfer window closes, job done.

It really is that phooking simple !!!

also , whats john stones going to do ? sit and sulk ? go on strike ?
if he wants to play in the euros ..... hes got to perform and play .
if he wants a big club to come back for him ........ hes got to perform and play
if he doesn't perform and play , then its him that suffers . he is a 21 year old who according to our books is a £3 million asset. I'm quit happy to put him in the under 21s or on the bench for the next 4 years. he was happy enough to sign a 5 year agreement last summer. that's a contract ... he is ours for that contract or until we say otherwise.
so yes , we hold all the cards.
if the club sells , then they always wanted to sell imo.

I understand what you are saying but, generally, when a player wants to leave a club these days that tends to be what happens......[/QUOTE

funny you dhould say that, wonder if he fancies West Ham,new stadium and all that

Spot on till your very last line.
Stand firm, stay calm, keep quiet !!

We seem to have very different opinions on the board then mate. I'm hoping that we do reinvest the money as there's nothing else I can do, but we'll see at the end of the window!

We do look a bit daft saying nothing.

But it's not exactly easy what to say. We could say it's been refused and look stupid when we sell him.

The silence says quite a lot.

Why don't we just be honest and say it's been refused until we receive an offer we can't refuse?

That's basically how Pulis/WBA are handling Berahino.

If we sold him and reinvested all the £40m (that's minimum sale for me) completely into players then I wouldn't be so disappointed. He's not irreplaceable.

However, I would be happy for the club to say 'Sorry, John, you're going nowhere this year' and have him stick around and dig in for another season. Unsettled? Maybe but he knows he'll have to keep playing at a high level for us if he wants to be a part of the Euros in the Summer.

Tell him he can go next summer, as it's too late in the window. If he then acts unprofessional, then don't play him. I reckon he'd soon come around and knuckle down if he wants to go to the euros.
