The point was we sold a player who was indispensable and replaced him perfectly fine. I'd Call Distin for Lescott a good enough replacmeent considering the service.

There will be a statement from the club at some point today, hopefully before the match tonight so it's not up to Martinez in a pre-match interview. I'm sure the PR team or whoever will be working on it to make sure it's worded exactly how the club want it to be.

We can reject this request. He's a pro and will have to accept this if it happens, he may sulk for a week or so but it's in his own interests to play this season whether it's for our first team or someone elses. Lets hope the board stay strong and keep him.

As daveK said though, handing in a transfer request has tainted Stones, and every mistake he made if he stayed would be slagged off to death.

Not if he is on the bench , and Browning his playing along side Jags he really needs to be tought a lesson before playing for us again if he stays!

Of course you can if you want to keep him. He still needs to play to progress his career and get in the England team. The question really is whether the money we'd get would improve the squad overall or whether it would screw up the squad and season. My opinion is that it is too late to sell. Keep him for another year and do it properly.

He's contracted to Everton and we're in no position to sell. His happiness is a distant second to that. If he was really unhappy at Everton, he should've placed a transfer request ages ago. Too late I'm afraid. If Everton let him go, no matter what the fee is, they'll lose a massive amount of my respect.
