The Echo are still going on about why we need to keep him, so they obviously haven't been briefed by the club to spin it any other way. We really need to hear an official comment on this today though.

No we do not !
This is all about brinksmanship and who flinches first.
Stones is contracted... He cannot go without our agreement.
We don't want to sell him.
We do not have to respond publicly.
We keep quiet.
Chelsea fume... Sky fume... The papers fume...
We keep quiet.
Jesse Mourinho fumes and cries to Roman to break the bank.
Roman rings BK, BK says Hi Roman, no deal, da svidanya.
We keep quiet and the clock ticks by.
The transfer window closes, job done.

It really is that phooking simple !!!

I want Blockhead to be appointed CEO at Goodison.

We do look a bit daft saying nothing.

But it's not exactly easy what to say. We could say it's been refused and look stupid when we sell him.

The silence says quite a lot.

This except for the last line. We're bound to sell. They need to make sure that they do it at the best price and with time to get a half decent replacement........

If Stones really has handed in a transfer request, I would hope that Martinez/Bill would realise they hold all the cards.

They should have phoned Chelsea up yesterday and told them "Stones has handed in a transfer request, he's on a 4 year contract, he's going to be the best English CB and one of the best in the world. All this and timing considered, you have until the end of the day to submit a £60m bid for him. Any less will be rejected and any later will not be considered as it will be too late to reinvest the money."

Oh who am I kidding, the board don't want to reinvest the money!
