John Stones transfer saga

I am leaning to agreeing with you

A frustrating and upsetting few days are in store for all us Evertonians I fear

Its going to be an unbearable 6 days of the transfer window.

there is no way in any of this we are winners. Every club will know we are desperate, we will have money premium goes up. We lose Stones. club deflects blame onto the lad so they dont get lynched.

Those determined to blame the board for John Stone's personal decisions will continue to do so, whether the request is accepted or rejected.

If they accept it, it was orchestrated all along. Because, y'know, why wouldn't the player want to needlessly turn himself into the bad guy and lose out on a loyalty bonus, just to help out Bill?

If they reject it, it was still orchestrated all along. This time, Stones becomes the bad guy just to make Bill look like a strong, heroic chairman.

Either way, it requires you to believe that Stones would pointlessly throw himself under the bus to help out the board.
Arteta did mate. why else hand a request in at half 10 at night?

Think of the timing. He could have handed a notice in back in july, wanting to move to the champions to replace the great john terry. PErsonally i dont blame him for wanting to go there, clearly going to win more with them than us.

But no request comes in, bids come and go, no request. then 1 WEEK before the deadline, when we still havent spent any money other than what we did on del he suddenly hands his request in? Either he thinks chelsea wont come back for him, OR, the club are desperate for chelsea to come back in because they have gambled on another bid and it hasnt came in time.

Said it last night mate, personally don't believe a word the club says regarding things like this, especially as we clearly have had no money to spend

In what way has martinez been backed?

In his first summer, he signed kone for 5, alcaraz free, robles nominal, del loan, and didnt sign anyone else until.......He sold Fellaini.

Second summer, lukaku- installments deal (fair enough), besic, couple of million, barry free, galloway youth, henan youth and then..................nothing else.

Third summer, cleverly free, delefeu 4 million (expensive loan deal potentially) holgate 1 million, and then...............nothing until we sell stones

We are doing the opposite of backing martinez mate, we are actually making very limited funds available unless he sells his spine of the team.

Right OK, do we not pay wages to these players? We also got McGeady which (understandably) everyone seems to forget. Also lets not forget that pretty much every major player we have have received new deals, these pay rises and new contracts dont come free either.

Quite simply we spend what we can. The transfer window isnt closed yet either!

Nothing has changed from our side! Why do we need to say something?

"Everton release John Stones is still not for sale statement."

Great.

It would be great. It would put them back on the front foot, shed any sort of light for the fans who are in limbo at the moment. It might even make them look like they have some semblance of control of the situation, which I highly doubt they do.

Think its time we look at spain and other countries and start putting buyout clauses into players contracts which would get us a fair price and would avoid situations like stones

I find it hard believe that we supposedly have no cash left. Last season was the first year of the new TV deal, in which we received an extra 30million compared to 12/13. We receive an extra 30 million this year as well, compared to before the TV deal. We then have one more year of this TV deal, before the money goes totally insane at the end of the 17/18 season.

If we have no money, then we have supposedly spent an extra 60 million over the past 12 months, which I don't believe is true no matter how many extra millions you want to add to the Gareth Barry deal which was completed last year. How were they planning on buying Yarmolenko if there is no money left? And they plan on building a new stadium as well? We haven't waxed out an extra 60 million in the last 12 months!

Or maybe there's another explanation. Stones wanted to go but didn't want to take it to this extreme.

The board knew this and waited until both the price went up and he handed in a transfer request. It doesn't have to be a conspiracy to be the plan. Ultimately they would have known about this. People on this forum have been saying they knew about this request days possibly weeks earlier so this will be something they have planned for.

As @the esk said the next couple of days and their decision will define what direction they are taking the club.

However all that being said if we can still get VVD and Yarmalenko I think he should be sold. I just don't think we will get either of them and don't want Bill trousering the money

Have you got any proof they didn't?

I think you're being a tad naive if you think the board telling Stones to put in a transfer request so they can cash in on him while deflecting some of the heat from themselves is beyond them

I dont need to provide proof! Im not the one putting out the accusations! I cant prove something that I am saying didnt happen....

I think you are being more than a tad paranoid. You aint the only one either to be fair.

yes mate but we have a wage budget. That tells us how much wages a week we can offer a new player, or if we can actually sign someone. So any deals or new signings are taken into account. Wages and fee are completley different as we could have 100 million to spend and not be able to offer more than 10 grand a week spare. Obviously far more complicated than that but that is the simple way of looking at it.

But the fact that the club is getting more and more money, does it not concern you that martinez is olny getting such small transfer budgets? Better yet, do you think keeping our current players a success via the new contracts? Considering we havent been succesful in 20 years now? Or perhaps it has been 20 years since winning a trophy and we are still selling to buy despite being in the top 6 clubs for nearly 15 years give or take a league placing.

I was literally just about to mention Arteta.

Is there a particular reason you didn't just write "Lukaku - 28M"?
