John Stones transfer saga

Today should be interesting. It was almost embarrassing how the club stuck it's head in the sand after the news broke yesterday (i think West Brom responded within the hour after the news about Berhaino was released). Today they can't avoid it.
These next 6 days will define Martinez's time as Everton manager - it was also be the boards.

A bit a rational thinking.... Stones is a serious talent no doubt, that's why Chelsea have done all they can to create this situation but losing a defender no matter how exceptional will have far less affect on our team than losing a Lukaku or Barkley say. We still leaked goals for fun last season and that was with Stones in the side most of time. If he is allowed to leave we can't replace him like for like but we can improve the team overall if the board give Martinez the funds and he spends wisely. You would hope that with this situation brewing for a month we have already identified possible targets (wishful thinking i'm sure but heck i'm trying to not let Everton ruin another day)
Whether he stays or goes we need to make a decision, act now and try as best we can to come out of this as strong as possible.

There's still hope if Martinez is given the money to spend. Stones leaving doesn't have to be the epic disaster it has potential to be

If he is to go, it needs to get sorted out asap and then Martinez needs to be given the required funds from the sale

If the board leaves it too late and sits on the money, I fear for the clubs future

yes.....if he turns up at the game tomorrow night boys like that @Magic BFC bloke will give him a hero's reception for putting in the request so they can get a cut and buy a centre half from Accrington Stanley :drunk:

And in 3 years you'll be paying us £2million for him, Super Johns down Oakwell tonight I'll send him your regards pal,

All about getting the replacement lined up - no point in the club responding either way until we know for certain if we can get one of sufficient quality.

So basically you shouldn't cheer in any given season for Lukaku, Barkley, Ledson, Stones, Deulofeu etc. because the likelihood is if they have a good season they'll be gone in the summer anyway. Because as we will clearly demonstrate if we sell Stones, we're a selling club by definition.

So by your logic. you may as well boo anyone who plays well.
What a stupid response to someone telling it as it is. You make no sense whatsoever.

Cos people are hurting and want someone to blame mate

It's easier to blame John Stones for his perceived disloyalty than it is to contemplate that our board has been misleading us for weeks on end

Yes because John Stones wanting to leave is much more believable than some crackpot conspiracy theory about the board misleading us for no apparent reason.

Fair enough, you've convinced me. I am now wondering how the conversation went

BK - Hey John, I don't want to look bad to the fans so would you mind putting in a transfer request so that I come out smelling of roses and you look like a complete Judas?
JS - No thanks Bill, I am happy here
BK - Please?
JS - Oh ok then, where do I sign

Option 1: Stones wants to go. Transfer requested submitted.
Option 2: Stones is happy to go. BK, If you get the right offer and want to take it, I would be happy to move on.
Chelsea make right offer, we "need to take it" - JS you need to hand in a TR otherwise the fans will lynch us.

We won't know until we Sep 1. Remember what Martinez said, we don't want or have to sell. We are not a selling club. He doesn't want to sell stones. If we do, we'll all know why. If we don't, hats off to the board.. Stones wanted to go and we said no.

Does anyone on earth actually think 1. Marrinez will be given the full sale money, never mind more on top. 2. That we wont sell. 3. That we wont drag this sale out till the latest we can to minimize the time to spend. 4. That we wont use this as an excuse for a poor season and use the timing to explain why we had a neagative net spend of epic proportions. 5. That Martinez with less than 5 days to effectively rebuild a defense that he failed to do in all his time at wigan and has failed to address this summer is suddenly going to be able to sort our bacl line out.

Weve been screwed by the board once again. Clap, clap, clap

Touched apon it last night. The question that i would raise right now is why our transfer budget was only 5 million?! Clearly any further signings will be funded by the stones transfer, i am not buying the official story so until the board proves me wrong then i will continue to assume the plan was to sell to buy. But then that would leave us with the minimal outlay we have spent as our only expendure, compared to every club around us. More to the point it is the simple question of how can this club really be so poor?

And a observation, the club seem to have sold martinez down the river here because they are leaving him to face up to all these questions and media reports, whilst anyone at the club remain silent.

Martinez should walk in today and say Listen John, what you did was disrespectfully to this great club, so he is what happens now. You will not be sold for any price and now you will play for the reserves till next season

John Stones hasn't just decided, "oh I might go now actually" - it's all been down to Everton.
Could you be any more ridiculous if you tried ?

Apart from anything else John Stones was learning and improving at Everton . He was forgiven for the mistakes he made and was encouraged to play in the right way.
Everton have a good squad and a very good first eleven there is no reason why John Stones could not have at least one more season at the club.
Do you believe somebody at the club forged the name of John Stones on the piece of paper.

The board is far from perfect, but sometimes you have to beyond blindly blaming them for absolutely everything.
John Stones is a professional footballer and a full international.

Doesn't help us either way that really thought does it? We have very few senior CB's, letting him rot in the reserves is alright in theory, but we either need him playing or the money to replace him.

lose lose situation we are in all around.
