John Stones transfer saga

Sad but predictable. Also in the cold light of day we all loved him as an Everton player but he is replaceable. Bobby may have just played a blinder by giving him so many first team games. Chelsea were always looking for a john terry replacement and this has been timed to perfection.

Right now 40 mil, if it is that much, would probably be more use to us than john stones.

There's always the possibility that Jags is a smelly b@:tard, and that's why he can't hold down a decent partner!

If Stones is replaced by average [Poor language removed] like Evans or Fazio I'm going on a murderous rampage.

I'm not there tonight, but I would find that very hard.

Applaud him for handing in a transfer request which will leave us with one esstablished central defender and little time to replace him?

To me, that's applauding him for dropping us in it. Irrelevant anyway, he's not going to be playing.

Exactly. If he did, even for one moment, know his heart wasn't in playing for the club further then he should of handed a transfer request at that point - not with a week remaining in the transfer window.

This is much worse than the Lescott deal, as everyone knew that he wanted out. This allowed Moyes and Co to look for alternatives, it seems like Stones allowed the clubs management to believe that he was staying and thus we only targeted Mori as a backup.

This is no one's fault, except that of John Stones and his agent.

Seem to recall Lescott getting a decent reception against Arsenal ( well a fair few clapped and sang his name ).

Didn't get us very far that. Nope, if he gets picked tonight I would like to think the 4,500 fans who are going will let him know in no uncertain words that it just isn't acceptable.

"Orite lads actually I want more money after all & John Terry to finger me bird after training so thought I'd let you all know I'm off and you's 'ave got 6 days to buy like I dunno 2 or 3 defenders LOL. Barnsley4life!"

This was in my head as I went to sleep last night.

Whats the bet their next offer will be lower than their last? "The player wants out so we're not going to offer you the same amount..."

I agree with a previous poster, offer him to UTD or City for 5 mill less than Chelsea's last offer.

I think the only way that could work without Stones coping a season of fan abuse would be for him signing a new contract at the end of the transfer window.
Otherwise, what's the point?
I agree it is so late in the window and he has screwed us a royal one here, but he clearly doesn't want to be here and is about to cop a torrent of abuse from fans at every game.
Set the price first thing tomorrow Everton and give Chelsea, or any other club, 24-48 hours to accept or it is no sale.

I said weeks ago that it surprised me that some though the way in which transfers were conducted were transparaent and there was a whole murky world connected with transfers

My guess is that a transfer request was part of an orchestrated process which changes the way I which any fee is accounted for and in the end will mean little difference to the player or indeed any buying club or indeed selling club but will change the sums paid to any other entity that has an interest in any transfer

Oh and it at least allows Everton to try and defend their position if they do indeed agree that he can leave

Yes, I was just saying in the other thread there, this Mori fella had better be good enough because he is gonna be featuring a lot more now, and also perhaps get that Celtic Dutch fella for squad depth now. Again, @Mikey_Fitzgerald will see this as a silver lining at least, not that I'm suggesting he's happy to see Stones go as I'm sure he isn't.

Yep, he basically blanked fans despite the warmth.

As a side note to this debacle - isn't Chelsea's public pursuit of Stones technically illegal? Why haven't we been to the FA or whomever about it yet? I'd rather sell him to Liverpool than Chelsea now after the way that arrogant sack of a club has gone after him.

Behave.

I'm logging this post in my " Neg file "

He won't be going to City. they are well stacked with expensive CDs.

Let's just suppose he is offered to Man Utd for less and he will know, his agent will know, the whole football community will know about the fee. He quite simply says no I want to go to wherever and at that point clubs will play a similar game with Everton . it's an interesting line to take but it would backfire as sure as eggs are eggs

Ha ha..... last week he was the worlds best young defender..... all of a sudden he's not that good and easily replaceable.... Christ, I can't wait until school starts back next week ffs .

I did say a while back, if he goes the two faced BAWKites would say he is overrated.

In the space of a few hours he has gone from the new Franco Baresi to Craig Short.
