John Stones transfer saga

Barnsley get a chunk of that money. So we have a fraction of that to get multiple centre backs who won't be anywhere near as good as Stones, in all probability. And that's if we actually get to spend all that money in the first place.

I have a feeling there are Premier League standard CBs out there that won't be costing 30m

Do they do that in Canada?

I don't think it was too far a stretch to know 12 months ago that he was going to be in demand. And it shouldn't be a big stretch to fathom that Everton won't let him go for cheap.
We do when drinking milk and presented with something unexpectedly hilarious.

My point is that EFC are portraying Stones as the type of player who would be earning over 100k if he played at certain other clubs, yet he is only on 30k a week. EFC are portraying Stones as a top level talent, the type that should be vying for the title and in the CL, yet the club have done nothing to show ambitions of reaching this level.

EFC more than any other party, in my opinion, have swelled Stones head and made him think "ah, maybe I've already out grown non-CL clubs, non title challenging clubs, and certainly I belong at a club willing to pay me what I'm apparently worth".

I just think there has been a lot of naivety in how the clubs stance would affect the player and ignorance in terms of protecting one of the clubs strongest assets.

12 months ago people would of snorted milk out their nose at the talk of Stones going for the money that's currently being talked about.
No mate, before he evenc ame close to our first team we had people like foxy telling us he was future club and country captain material,I'm not surprised at all about the interest, just the size of the bids and the tosspotishness that Chelsea and the media have indulged in

Not including the Mori money assuming that's from the TV deal, say Stones does go for £35 mil (disgraceful sum) 15% leaves us with £30 mil to spend.

If we don't spend atleast £40 mil after any potential Stones sale then their is something wrong as we should have money for a playmaker signing regardless of a potential sale of Stones (wouldn't hold my breathe)

no we wont get that amount. the tv money has been spent on lukaku payments and paying off the vibrac loan. any money left has been spent on deulofeu. any other players coming in would have been loans or payed for by new loans.
even if stones is sold , we would only get a fraction of the money as a down payment .
to buy quality instantly we would again have to get another loan on the stones fee and some of that fee eventually would be used to pay off the loans interest.
so 30 million coming in , soon changes into less than 30 million that we can actually spend out.

30 million can not improve upon a player who was bought a few seasons ago for 3million? I don't follow that logic.

I'd demand Kalas plus 30-35million from Chelsea. He got a chance against Liverpool when they had Suarez, Sturridge and Sterling at the height of their powers and shut them out with a near perfect game. Hasn't gotten another chance since so they clearly don't value him very highly and I suspect under the right circumstances he can be a top level CB. Certainly a better player than Stones was when he left Burnley.

For what its worth i have been told throughout the summer Stones was more than happy at the club , the latest was ĺast wednesday.
Something has gone seriously wrong since then ,the lad must have been swayed somewhere along the line , he absolutely loves the club
totally trusts the manager and plays with a great bunch of players. I m not person who would like to be tagged itk but this is from two very close & trusted people. The whole timing of this means there is something woefully amiss here. Bad advice ? I think its more than that , the whole episode wreeks. I'm absolutely stunned.

Last Chelsea bid was 30m. Why would they jump all the way to 40m now when their media agitation has done its work and there is now a transfer request on the table? Especially when one of their rivals, City, will likely have dropped interest as they have just brought a CB?

The timing of this and Stones transfer request is tin-hatable!

Why haven't the Everton board signed this kid up to a better deal ages ago? I mean, you can't talk nonstop about how great a talent he is, how he's worth 50million etc and then expect the kid not to have his head turned by a more ambitious club, when you have him on 30k a week. This is huge money to us, but in the football market its criminally under the market value for someone as good as good as Everton have portrayed Stones.

Double his wages and toss on a 60 million-70 million buyout and/or show some intent by buying a few players to help make the push. It's just crazy to think you can talk him up so much but not negatively impact him when you have him on relative subpar wages and told him he is of CL class but shown no ambition of taking the club there.

OK

We'll be spending about half of that if we're lucky.

I honestly haven't a clue how these next 6 days will pan out mate gonna be interesting to say the least.

Preferably we tell Chelsea £40 million or do one, if they cough up we get £34 mil out the deal to bring in some decent players.

Van Dijk: £10 mil
Austin £14 mil
Exotic playmaker: £15-20 mil

Add in Mori signing up and possibly Lennon coming in we would be much stronger than keeping Stones but as you say most likely it won't go down that way.

Martinez might persuade him to stay and if he does he will come out tomorrow and say there was no transfer request end of story ? Here's me wishing that would be the ideal scenario

Incredible if that happens. Right now we need two centre halves in and at least one of them has got to be proven quality at this level.

We've seen it all before with this board, to expect anything else apart from half of the Stones money to go missing is just setting yourself up for disappointment. It's one step forward and two steps back constantly, and also why this club will never progress to being a serious face again.
