John Stones transfer saga

I would be surprised if the club didn't already have two CBs lined up just in case. Is it an ideal scenario for this season? Probably not. But if the right decisions are made, it could mean the team are legitimately stacked for the following campaign.

I'm of the belief Stones goes this summer or next. If that is truly the case, £45 million goes much further this summer than even £50-55 million would next summer.

It is a very wrong indication to the public and Evertonian.

Martinez has repeatly told Chelsea to f off. I just don't think we will give in this time given BK is under pressure.

And do you believe Martinez will get all the fees? I don't think so. We need to keep Stones to show our ambition and this club need to grow not standing still. According to the manager, this club do not need to sell.

I've seen a few people mention this. I think I'm missing something here. What happens next season that prices will be inflated?

I think this is about more than just john stones. Martinez has clearly told the board that under his regime and with a plan in mind, he simply won't sell players to then fund more players. If they go against this then I can honestly see him leaving.

I agree to an extent. If the board will go against him to force a transfer of the player that is essentially the 'icon' of martinez's dream, then what's the point?

Another year of experience and proving himself in the prem, probably starting for the Euros, and still extremely young with a long contract.

Unless you know the status/length and all of our potential targets contracts and other clubs purchases in their positions then I would say that you shouldn't really assume that, that will be the case.

Of course being Everton, we will not sell him, we will celebrate, then he'll get injured and we will moan about the missed chance to offload him for 40m.
