John Stones transfer saga

If for no other reason to show the jumped up, arrogant rich kids they can't always get what they want.

It would be cathartic for Chelsea F.C.

Aye - And to remind everyone that we're not some pathetic gathering of provincials. We are Everton.

This is our 113th season in the top flight. We have seen it all before, clubs come and go, fortunes rise and fall, but we remain. Our pride matters and we shouldn't give in to these nouveau riche bells who have been propped up by a dodgy Russian's billions.

Redknapp hasn't got the slightest clue whether Stones wants to stay at Everton or not. He isn't going anywhere, because Chelsea aren't offering us silly money.
I think you're right. It honestly sounds like both clubs have moved on from this entirely. We said he's not for sale. Chelsea said they won't come in with an improved bid.

It's only media figures who are desperately trying to stay relevant that are even talking about Stones.

he ought to stay on his sun lounger at his multi millionaire home in Poole and keep his nose out of it.

Was just doing a bit of presenting mate

If we keep Stones I am more than happy to eat my hat but we will see. What is obviously not helping is the reluctance to release any funds for Martinez giving him, the fans and everyone else outside of the club the idea we can't sign anyone until we sell Stones. That may well not be the case. But some sort of statement should be coming out.

The sad thing to me is that we are driving young managers to the point of giving up a bit. Martinez (and Moyes before him) were hardly David O'Leary at Leeds. They just wanted a similar level of backing to sides around us, Stoke, West Ham etc. Look at what a player Payet looks currently. If your worst predictions come true, we sell Stones and don't bring anyone in of substance Martinez will be left with two options. 1) Resign. Or Option 2) Keep his mouth shut and get on with it. If he takes option 2 he will have a job for life like his predecessor.

Whatever the half baked moves and feeling out of prospective signings they're doing behind the scenes, I'm convinced more than ever now that the owners wont sanction deal clinching terms at present. Imo, they'll be looking to kick this down the road for as long as they can: insisting on loans for players looking for permanent moves; demanding structured payments that dont suit sellers. Any trick to avoid purchases at this stage. They'll want to see exactly what they have in the pot to determine how much they give to Martinez and how much to retain to make a start on paying off debt. They wont want to give RM an adequate war chest if Stones is staying. I believe that's why we're 20 days from the close of the window with barely an expenditure.

I'm more convinced it's debt clearing this season...

I'd happily lose Stones if it was the straw which broke the camels back and turned all Evertonian's against Billy mobster and his band of carpetbagging mates on his carefully selected board.

Anyone seen Redknapp's comments from Talksport.

Redknapp told talkSPORT: “When you’ve been in the game long enough you know, if a player wants to go, he’s going to go. I would think if the money’s right...

“David De Gea wants to leave Man United – he wants to go but it’s just when a deal can be done that suits everybody – and I think it’s the same with Stones.

“It’s a shame. Everton brought him in and gave him the opportunities, he’s been there 18 months and suddenly he’s off to Chelsea.

"But he’ll be a good signing for Chelsea and he’ll give them good cover and good competition at centre-half.”

The floppy skinned, sweaty [Pick a swear, any swear] can do one.
The blobfish faced t*t

It would have been a lot brighter as a scenario if it'd have been done weeks ago. Of course, the plan though is to do it as late as possible in order to retain as much of the incoming cash as they can get away with.

Mark my words: the tv cash plus what they siphon away from any Stones sale will disappear (with vague mutterings about cash for January buys and their friends in the media implying that monies are being saved for a new stadium scheme).

Followed by the usual: "Hey lads?!! Great News!! We've got a(nother) new site in the pipeline......buy your ST's now" next March......

They really believe every Evertonian has the attention span of a gnat. Unfortunately, it seems a lot of whoppers are still taken in by that bunch of whoppers & the whoppers they regurgitate time after time.

The only way to get them off Everton's back is with a scorched earth approach, whereby fans vote with their feet and also keep a high profile campaign up against them in the media.

Anything short of that and they are on easy street for as long as they want. No investment, no commercial improvement outside the tv revenue all clubs get, no stadium. Another decade or so of that.

Every player has his price , but 30 million for a potential England centre half if they doubled it we might listen , but 30 is taking the proverbial - we learnt our lessons over the Rooney episode hopefully!
