John Stones transfer saga

Yes sort off only if Everton want to sell him that is - BBC pundits at their worst!

The only pundit I've heard talk sense about Stones was big nose on Gillette soccer Saturday. he was saying Stones should stay with us because he needs to be playing every week, rather than sitting on the bench at Chelsea. He even said that if we were looking to sell Stones maybe as part of the deal we loan Stones back for the season.

My lad was saying supposedly Shearer is now joining in the 'Stones to Chelsea' campaign. Don't know if my lad just heard it wrong, but he was saying Shearer was saying something along the lines of Stones should go to Chelsea even if it means sitting on the bench, because he can watch John Terry.
That's the gist of it only if EFC want to sell of course! Which we have made it plain he is not for sale!
They forgot to add that in!

Yeah heard that and Carra was saying the same thing yesterday.

These RS really hate Chelsea like. And I mean really.

He was at fault for the first too. That crossed ball in has to be dealt with by Stones.

I think Jagielka is vastly over rated, but i know who is the better CB between him and Stones: Jagielka is. He deals with serious danger more often than not; Stones might nullify players outside the box and step out better than Jagielka, but he's not at the races as a stopper when it matters.

I agree that at this point Jags is better, but I think it's harsh to blame Stones soley for the first. His header would have missed the Watford player had it not deflected off Jags. I thought that goal was more down to bad luck than shoddy defending - though the midfield got broken through too easy.

And Stones made two goal saving tackles today. One in the first half on Deaney, one in the second (might have been against Deaney again). He's still got a lot to learn but, if he were to go, we'd struggle to get a replacement of his quality in, that's for sure.

Rubbish comment his capt along side him fared no better, on that performance you would sell eight players!
You obviously dont get footy so i'll explain...Stones is at the beginning of his career, so you cant compare to Jagielka. From his point of view he will want to achieve and win things....I want him to stay, but totally understand if he decides to leave

With so called fans like you reading crass comments like that he will leave, I have been supporting the blues for 56 years, so don't tell you grandfather how to suck eggs!
Do you not respect your club when they state their is no need to sell him????

Imagine how brain-dead punditry will be when Terry joins ranks with Shearer. Let them chunder on, ad infinitum - Shearer seems oblivious to how his opinion is truly valued outside of that studio. Wouldn't be surprised if they are never let out, such is the level of delusion and detachment - Lawro's choice of shirts are testament to that.

'This is what people still wear nowadays, right?'

Seriously, though, the assessment that Stones would be better of at Chelsea in terms of his development at this point in time is... absurd.

Can't believe I haven't heard one person in the media pick up on the fact that Mourinho is (arguably) the worst manager in the league for nurturing young talent.

Everyone goes on and on about how Stones is BOUND to improve working under him... based on what, exactly?!

Tbf Mourinho isn't bad at developing them when they are around 22 - think Hazard was only a few months older than Stones when he first started working with him and he's definitely improved him as he has with Azpilucueta and Oscar. It is just that it tends to be a fairly brutal kill or cure method and he's very poor at giving game time to under 20s.

He'd almost certainly improve him defensively although I think he'd also lose a lot of that instinct to forage forward that I so enjoy when watching John play - can recall Mourinho going mental on the sideline when David Luiz used to cross the half way line.

He'll stay then probably leave next season imo im not bothered either way tbh, sometimes cashing in on a player can improve you we have done that down the years and Stones isn't irreplaceable atm. Totally FM but say Martinez had £15 mil budget left to spend and sold Stones for £35 mil on the promise of it all to spend, imagine if invested correctly:

Barnsley 20%- £7 mil

Shaqiri- £12 mil
Austin- £13 mil
Dragovic- £10 mil
Evans- £5 mil
Lennon- £6 mil

Would have a strong first team and still have a bench of:

Austin
Lennon
Barry
Besic
Evans
Mcgeady
Oviedo

Sometimes it's wise to cash in when you need to rebuild and tbh we could do with one right now, too much deadwood like pienaar, gibson, naismith, Kone hanging around the squad doing nothing but eating up the wage bill.
