Considering the state of our roads, there bloody well SHOULD be a road tax. And it should be levied against ALL vehicles, motorised or otherwise, that use the road. No more of this tax determined by emissions nonsense thank you - zero emission cars still cause wear and tear to the road surface and still cause accidents. Therefore they should pay towards the funding of the roads.
And cyclists should be required to have insurance for third party risk, just like cars do.
Would probably agree with you actually. If a car collided with a bike, can the cyclists claim in the drivers insurance for mangling their bike? If so, then yes, that needs to be reciprocated.
