Aiden McGeady

For sure mate but he is worth more than 1m though and we should try and get what he is worth if he was to go. I'd feel 2.5m-4m would be a fair evaluation.
There is no way he has gone uP in value since we bought him. He's done virtually nothing of note, bar the goal against Leicester: given that he's scored nowt since then, many prospective buyers (LOL at the concept) would rightly be wondering if it was more luck than anything else.

No-one on the planet will pay £4m for McGeady. Vault me.

We purchased him with 6months left on his contract mate, hence the discounted price.

Considering how highly martinez rates / rated mcgeady...i would be massively suprised he would be going anywhere. He was chasing his signature for aaaages cant see him getting rid.....period !!
I'm suprised he's as hated as he is, Yes he over plays 80 % of the time but he has shown glimpses of absolute class too. He was unfit the first season, unluckily injured for large parts too, last. I say with a propper preseason under his belt, less guiness, chickens in baskets...he would be a good squad player to have.

Is Martinez not learning as he goes along though. Perhaps McGeady looked fantastic when compared with the calibre of player he had worked with prior to arriving at Everton. He had probably contacted Aiden before having a chance to really see what Everton had regarding squad. On a free he was worth a gamble. But we now have Deulofeu and a bigger budget with which to try and capture a better winger from overseas.

I wanted him to succeed but he hasn't impressed me in 18 months. One good goal and a couple of quality assists do not mask countless poor decisions and a dreadful sending off at West Ham that cost us an FA Cup run.

And has he done anything to indicate he is worth substantially more? IMHO he has not, but I agree that it would be foolish to sell him for such a low sum because even a loan in to replace him would cost more.

I do understand why Martinez took the chance with him, but it hasn't worked out - for the exact reasons that many of us felt it wouldn't when he was first mentioned: he's just not any good at football.

He'll be 30 by the end of next year, £1m probably isn't far off his true value.

We do tend to sell well though, so I reckon he'll end up going for about £2.25m. Maybe even with a small amount of add ons. Vault me.

Agree word for word, particularly with the bit in bold; wasn't McGeady apparently a target for Martinez's Wigan? He's a Wigan-standard player IMHO.

....the arrival of Deulofeu might limit his game time further but he does offer something different and he could be a game changer, particularly from the bench.

Although I get what your saying, we all know he's no Lennon, he is all showboat and no paddle. I just have a gut feeling that with game time...a propper pre season and a diet ...I still think he can beat a man and whip in the crosses...not a starter perhaps but a worthy super sub. Imo of course ;)

Failing that he can do the truffle shuffle from the bench
