With stories of both Mertens and Shaqiri coming out in the last two days, more notably the Mertens ones from a good source, i think he's had both in mind opted to go with Mertens (it seems) and essentially let Stoke have Shaqiri as theres £2m difference between two players so i dont think cost/wages would be a factor.

Stoke make an interest to inter. Stoke don't want to pay a certain amount so inter raise abit of a story other teams are in for him so stoke panic a little and throw a bid in for him before we 'allegedly' do

I don't watch much Italian ball on the box however any time I saw milan i always thought shaqiri worked really hard. He might be a bit of a nutcase and big ego etc but he covers ground and looked quite strong for his size. Suprise Stoke in for him and that he would go there but he must have a work ethic if Stoke are buying him

You must have been watching someone else. He played for Inter last year.
