Don't know what the fuss was about. I never doubted he would.

Oh there was a fair chance he wouldn't.

He certainly has clauses in there like GrandOldTeam has said. Most likely ones that ensure he gets playing time if he's not out on loan.

Thats ridiculous if theres such a clause in his contract. No player should be guaranteed game time

Desperately needs to go out on loan as Baines is not ready to be benched yet. Needs to be at a decent PL club too, not just championship or relegation strugglers.

We'll struggle to find a prem side that will loan him in as first choice, Bournemouth probably wouldve but thats seems to have gone quiet lately

It's probably something along the lines of Bartra's at Barcelona. A buyout becomes activated if he plays less than. It's understandable - for his career he needs to play.

A player should earn his games, a manager hand shouldnt be forced to give game time to satisfy a clause in a contract.

Hell if I know, I wasn't at the negotiation. Could be quite low and after a set amount of games played, it raises.

Yeah, although if he does stay I'd expect him to feature more.
He featured loads last season and if Ovideo was sold would probably play a decent amount of this season too but I think we would be stronger keeping Ovideo this year.

It's not being forced. The manager can still decide but it just means that after a year if game time is still looking likely not to improve it's easier for the player to leave if he wants. Basically it removes the risk that he will rot on our bench indefinitely which sometimes is beyond his control if he's simply not good enough.

Barcelona had clauses in Deulofeu's contract with Sevilla and Emery still didn't play him.
