In all seriousness, if they maintain after being shown evidence to the contrary that they're 50/50 split on the local clubs, then it's a total embarrassment on their part, or they're just downright liars and know exactly what they're up to.

How could you come in for tons of criticism on a subject, then carry on doing what you've been reprimanded for? That's just total stupidity.

Thing is, what did people actually expect?

They've just replied with typical spin and bullcrap. Sure, they could have ignored it altogether but they obviously decided it was getting too much so needed to do something about it.

And it's a lot easier to pretend to do something about it by saying you are than actually doing anything, actually changing how they cover Everton.

That's all they've done so far, they've talked a good game about listening to Everton fans and changing. But they've yet to actually do so which is the important bit.

Good point.

I am not saying it isn't ironic nor that their publications may have bias towards Liverpool, however...

The whole recommendations is probably based on an algorithm determined on foot fall to the site: a larger fan base; more views to their content.

There are 3 widgets. The most read will be - very much doubt the recommend by element would be.

I rarely buy it and then only if there's something really worth reading - perhaps we've beaten United 3-0 and I want to read the report again (or something like that). To be honest I pick up the back page - grimace at the unequal coverage (not so bad lately for some reason!!!) and then put it back down.

I used to get the old Football Echo back in the day. But now, when you see all the street sellers hawking LFC stuff on their stand (produced by the Echo Media people) you pretty much know where you stand - no doubt the new season will bring us another Gerrard tribute special and how he's fairing in LA ad nauseum.

Because they haven't really accepted any of the criticism. They think it is criticism that only a minority of disillusioned fans hold, and that their frustration at the lack of pressure on the board has led to senseless accusations of bias against them. All the article says is:

They already have completely unbiased journalists and will not consider their personal affiliations important
They are aware of discontent but that is from a minority of fans trying to get the echo to push a movement for change at Goodison that they don't believe in
They already give us the exact same amount of coverage as Liverpool so won't be changing any aspect of that apart form the 'randomly generated' news links

In total he's basically told everyone to get lost as it's already fine the way it is and there's just a few bitter blues who don't like it and they're not going to do anything about it....Massive massive kopite.

Yeah, it's an insult.

#askAli........ suggestions duly noted and ignored.

It's owned by the same scrotes who publish the Mirror, so expecting anything other than dogs*** and lies is a big ask.

Not bought a newspaper for years (interwebz and all that. But rarely go anywhere near their online site unless it's an article about my local area. (Usually something about drugs or guns) (n)

Just took a look on RAWK to see if those scruffy texans have picked up on this... They have, just look for the 245 page thread (!!!) about us on there...

I feel dirty now :(

A little piece that caught my attention were these few words -

Our staff are here to be great, well-connected, well-informed and fair-minded journalists who report and analyse the whole picture - not fans with a keyboard able to indulge a private passion.

So if the above is true I would expect Pearce and Walsh to be dismissed instantly because if ever there was 2 journalists that pander to the Kopite masses with absolute bull and cult like writing its these two blerts.

The only thing is we get even less coverage (miniscule at times) in the national press, especially in the daily Mirror which is like an extension of the Kop magazine with all its LFC supporting scouse journalists. So if you don't have access to the Internet, and a lot of the older generation don't, then we wouldn't even know what our new kit looked like never mind who we were attempting to sign.
For that reason alone the echo is our only hope of any real press exposure albeit not as over indulgent as them across the park enjoy.

The fact that they should cater for Evertonians, but generally don't, is an even more damning indictment than not reporting on the board in my view.

I'm not so sure.

Its easy to set an algorithm to show based on IP geo-location.

The fact is. They're a PR machine for the reds.

Everyone knows it.

People have rightly had enough.

@davek

Like I said. I'm saving my pennies for contributions for @GrandOldTeam server costs.

The ECHO's never offered me as an Evertonian anything but pretentious and patronising 'stories' about my club.

At least its done by us for us on @GrandOldTeam with. Lots of humour. The ECHO is being written by reds.

The Kristian Walsh crying at Crystal Palace and then seeing him lecture us about selling tickets - is more than enough evidence that the ECHO has totally lost the plot. Probably to an in-office Red agenda.
