I'd be very happy with Scott Dann. I was scared we wouldn't be getting a defender in. We missed a physical presence in defence last year and it's not as if he'll come in and replace stones/ jags- he'll be a Distin type signing I think. Hope the rumours are true myself.

Some observers pointed to Distin weakness in terms of him not sticking his head in were it hurts ...I suppose Dann would close that gap but not sure about him in a foot race with his back to goal with a high line.

Lids arguing about the merits of Dann....laughable really. He is bang average all day long.

Hmm - be 3rd choice here or 3rd choice at Juve.

Although realistically he's probably better than Jags but I can't see Martinez dropping his captain this season.

Would be awesome if we got him.

Have to agree with you there, the thing is Juve play 3 at the back, so starts most games. Can't see Roberto changing the formation of defenders to accommodate anyone we bring in. Might be wrong though just can't see it.

I thought I recalled this lad;

He and Jags will start surely. Stones will come in throughout the season.

Well, I watch him a lot and he doesn't do what you say he does, hence what you said isn't true

Best mates a celtic season ticket holder and he creams off van dijk just as much as you. But he says one of his faults are sometimes he trys to over play and he wouldn't get away with that as much in a better league.
He also thinks deneyar is the better of the 2

I'd be super surprised if we signed van Dijk (can people please spell his name right ffs). I love ball playing defenders but it's fairly well recorded from past teams how a contrast of ball-playing/John Terry is a better partnership. We'd all very quickly fume if we let a goal in because Stones and VVD were on the edge of the opponents box trying to score a scissor kick.
I liked that post because of it's humor.

I actually disagree with it however. Having two ball playing CBs allow you to either draw the opposition on to you without needing to hoof or force them to not to press. It's tactically a great asset.

Although yes sometimes it looks foolish.
