I really hadn't heard of Payet before the recent speculation , so I cannot say that I think he would or would not be a great acquisition.

Looking at his career to date I would say it is steady rather than spectacular. I am looking at his career over a decade rather than a season or two. He has also had a modest international career and cannot be that highly rated within his own country.
If Everton were interested it would depend very much on the cost of the deal as I would say that his success in the premiership is far from guaranteed.

Unfortunately we are not a club that can risk a large expenditure on a player in his very late twenties who is unproven in this league.

As with so many players during the window , I am sure there are lots of agent, owners and managers creating stories to create interest in a player or lessen interest in a player as the situation demands. I am sure Payet is one of several we have asked about, time will tell if he is the one .

Doubt we are in for Poyet. He is 28 I don't think our policy allow us to spend big on those kind of player.

Oh well then if you haven't heard of him then he's clearly nothing, you being a fountain of football knowledge an' all.

I think it's safe money to bet most of the fans on this site had never heard of him before either.

well done if you had though, you must watch some terrible football away from Everton. .

Look at all the back tracking on Payet, the other day everyone was " Jizzing " about him bringing up stats of assists and other crap as well.

Now that's he is off to West Ham everyone is being two faced again.

Get a grip people and have some integrity.

New name (for me anyway). Augsburg centre-back Ragnar Klavan. He's no Ragnar Lothbrok though.

Everton have registered their interest in Augsburg centre-back Ragnar Klavan, the player's agent has told kicker.

Klavan played every single minute of the Bundesliga season for Augsburg as they finished fifth in the table.

The 29-year-old, who joined from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar in 2012, picked up just one booking and won 65 percent of his tackles during the season as the club secured their place in next season's Europa League.

The Estonia international's performances have led to interest from Everton and his agent, Maikel Stevens, said he is considering his options.

"They asked about him and it is normal that you think about such a request, but it is also fact that he is under contract at Augsburg for two more years," he said.

Klavan could be tempted to stay at Augsburg to play in next season's Europa League, but Stevens added: "You have to know that it is his dream to play in the Premier League once."
