We lost 3 games in May and 1 win to close the season, yes freefall was stopped.
the relegation threat was removed which when you are ready to write a season off that's the main thing.

I'm not as optimistic as most about Roberto but ill back him as much as I can until there is no reason not to. moyes lost my backing Sunderland away when we drew 2-2. It to was that point that after 9 years or whatever it was I saw we were going nowhere under him anymore. martinez hasn't given me that, so as much as I would have seen him sacked at the start of march he wasn't and the club can give him time now to change things.

Time will tell Mate, BTW always said we would not be relegated but it was a nerve wracking time.

A disturbing thing for me is that in all his conferences, chats or reports never admits or owns up to any errors, mistakes. It always seems to be put down to bad l;uck, unfortunate this or that.

RM must be a genius to be so flawless.

In bold - this type of thinking shows everything that's wrong with our fan base at the moment.

Why can't we expect to win a trophy? I hate this plucky Everton tag Moyes labelled us with. Punching above our weight etc.

I grew up with us winning trophies. Historically, we are a massive club with a great tradition. Not having a rich owner means we deffo won't win the title, and may have to settle for 5th place at best for now, but it doesn't automatically disqualify us from winning a cup or challenging for top 4
If you read my post it says winning silverware every season, not ever winning silverware

I enjoyed listening to his interview on the Followtonians podcast today. After a season of banal 'great character' interviews post-defeat, it was great to hear him talking more openly, and it a much less guarded manner. It reminded me of why I like him.

He's thoughtful, insightful and clearly much brighter than most managers. Perhaps I'm an easily-hoodwinked goon, but I thought he answered the questions honestly and convincingly.

Above all, it underscored to me that it's so easy to have an opinion on a football manager - but it's unconscionably difficult to be one.

He absolutely deserves at least another season. 2013/14's performance has earned him that.

We have gone from doom and gloom to over positive....

I would out him now the man is a charlatan .This year has shown us the real Martinez the man that has spent most of his time in the premier league fighting against relegation.
He is a media darling who talks a good game but has never had the CV to manage Everton ,sure we are not the power we once were but surely we should be looking for a manager with better credentials than a Cup win and a relegation. The football we are playing is dire ,he hasnt got the bottle to drop senior players when they are not performing if he continues in the job he will waste more money on Journeymen while the players like Stones ,Coleman and McCarthy will end up playing elsewhere.
