He should still get till Christmas

He drew something like 3 of the first 4 in his first season and that turned out alright

If we lose 9 of the first 10 though, then maybe you'd have a point
drawing 3 of the first 4 would not cause a crisis but I think losing them might cause lot of people to run out of patience who otherwise would have waited until Christmas

He's OK as a squad player. If we use him like Barca have used Xavi this year for his influence in the dressing room and in certain games then he can still be a big asset.

If we use him like we did last year he'll be a liability.
Hes not ok too slow and on a good wage get rid it was another Saha conundrum look great on a loan sign a lucrative contract, and forget how to run , and fall away !!!!

Drawing them wouldn't precipitatate a crisis as such......it would be the manner of achieving those draws which would set alarm bells ringing in earnest.

If we are served up more of the same turgid football come August the natives will really be revolting.

I'm closely interested in Martinez's player recruitment this summer, plus the pre-season set up. If this creates a positive style of play, good performances and fitness levels, he'll have passed his first test. Then if we start the season in the same vain, instead of this slow, stubborn possession footy he serves up, I can cope with that. However, if he gets us playing like this season again, I'll be more than unhappy.

Obviously he'll also be judged on results as well as performances and style. If we're playing decent stuff and can cut out the individual mistakes and dodgy defending, hopefully we can put a good run of results together.

On the other hand, our patience is running thin so he's probably on thin ice if we get a few bad results early doors.

For example, if we've been knocked out the league cup come October, and have already lost a handful in the league, I think he may have to go. Depends largely on how we're playing, though.

Probably echoing others.

This season he needed to prove that he could stop a free fall and he did that. We gave him time and he at least ended the season for us in march so fair enough. I'd have sacked him at the start of march personally especially if we hadn't won after Stoke but we did and he did the bare minimum after that.

For me going forward he needs to prove he is a manager for the future. I'm not expecting champions league football from him for a while nor us overachieving. I want to see him sign players who have real potential and look to be building a future. I want to see his policy actually evolve and work both on and off the pitch, change tactics when he needs to and pick players on both form and for the team we are playing, not have one set list of 11.

Most importantly we need to be able to look back and see real progress from him being made. He isn't a proven manager that isn't right for the club, he is young and learning the job still. I don't care if come next season we finish 10th as long as we can look back and see genuine progress and improvement from him.

What I really want to see is more youth. I feel that we have one of the brightest crops of youngsters in years - Ledson, Dowell, Galloway, Browning, Henen. We already have a great spine with Stones/McCarthy/Barkley/Rom. How great would it be to get a solid core of young evertonians in those positions or at least jostling in the squad. That means persisting with them, even if some idiots in the games and in the media call out Barkley for not being the second coming of Puskas aged 21 with 2 major injuries.

If the youth can be supplemented with wise heads (why it is good to keep Osman/Hibbert on IMO, just for dressing room, and neither have embarassed themselves at all this season) we will have a really good mix of youth and experience

Should give young George Telfer a run out next season !!
Jimmy Husband was there on Sunday and my brother in the main stand shouted to him get your shirt on for the 2nd half what a fast player he was, played off the striker scored goals just what we need!
My brother was glad to get rid of DM , but reckons RM may be a one season wonder!

Are you implying he hasn't already done these things?

64% not happy to give him a further full season to get things right.

98% give or take the odd kopite hoping Bobby rediscovers his form early next season and makes this academic.

I voted Christmas, but I very much doubt if BK would sack him even if we ended up relegated next season. Bill is just too nice. I think BK will have to go first before RM is shown the door.

We lost 3 games in May and 1 win to close the season, yes freefall was stopped.
