Barry for me it was one season too much from his last very good performances to gain a three year contract was a joke!
Now we have to off load him!
He's OK as a squad player. If we use him like Barca have used Xavi this year for his influence in the dressing room and in certain games then he can still be a big asset.

If we use him like we did last year he'll be a liability.

he's here for a while weather people like it or not. think if we have a good window things will turn around. Outside of besic we didnt add to the sqaud and some key players from our 5th place season really fell off due to age (Distin and Barry)

I voted for xmas, only because of injuries and europa, put those to one side then I'd have him gone now.

Friendly prep was awful, was at the Paderborn friendly and that basically was the window for the season. Slow, turgid football with 3 goals conceded due to counter attacks and stupid Howard mistake. His first preseason was good due to good opposition and also the players were fit thanks to moyes.

1st 4 games (included Wolfsburg in this) we went gung ho like the season before but got knackered, scored lots of goals but got knackered for the final half hour.

Martinez to blame for that.

We calmed down but then Howard went awol, can't blame Martinez for that.

He changed the style due to lack of fitness, injuries, and Howard. We lost all momentum after that and just couldn't create anything at all.

Europe was only good due to European teams not knowing how to play against us.

What we need is a preseason against good teams, and a mixture between Moyes fitness and Martinez passing, and for the love of god a replacement for osman and pienaar.

He's got till Christmas, if we're struggling he needs to go.
The squad needs a massive overhaul which isn't going to help his cause though. Kone, Gibson, Oviado, Pienaar all need to go, as well as Distan and Alca leaving, that 6 player just to replace the dead wood or injury prone players

O and we really really need a new Keeper

He needs to bring in technically good players that can receive the ball in tight spaces played in at speed. The problem with us this season has been too much of the likes of Naismith and McGeady.

A chance we made against Spurs that I saw on the highlights was when Barkley pinged it into Osman in the box who controlled it instantly with a couple of players close to him who then played in Coleman.

That's the kind of football we should be playing but you need the players. He keeps talking about getting them playing at a higher passing tempo, always shouting quicker quicker on the touch line but what does he expect when he buys run-a-rounders.

Even Lennon who was good is too much a run-a-rounder for my liking.

Exactly which is why we need to bring in the likes of Deulofeu, who IMO have the potential to boss that style.

He loves them.

I think if we can get (and keep) Gibson fit he will be a real asset, I would much rather see him stay. In terms of squad, I reckon that Ossie, Barry and Naismith will all come in useful, especially as we won't have Europa to worry about. I really hope Martinez can get us going next term, but I'm with the majority, if it's still turgid by Xmas I would get rid.

The original point - and part of why people are willing to give Martinez until Christmas @Woolly Blue

Is that they want to see who Martinez brings in first.

If its Alcaraz type signings he'll be gone by November.

Sorry to stick my phil thompson in, but you made the mistake of tagging @Woolly Blue instead of @davek into your post ;) 99/100 times you get it right......:D

He should get till at least Christmas, then we can see where we're at

Has had a good season and a weaker one

By Christmas I think we'll be able to see which season was the blip and which season was the truth
