How boring are we to watch?

Didn't we go on a run under Smith when we had 5 or 6 games at Goodison where we failed to score, and 0-0 was therefore the best result? Can't recall many of them as I think I slept through, but I remember the one (season opener?) when John Collins missed a penalty. Was 0-0.

Today was, to coin a Walterism, "Disappointing". But boring it wasn't.
We beat West Ham 6-0, Sunderland, Middlesbrough and West Ham 5-0 to name just a few not to mention an Anfield derby win under Smith. When did we last score 4 in the prem, Anybody recall it? We have had 2 good performances in 36 league games this season Man utd and Villa at home.

The pundits see things more clearly from the outside. They see the task Martinez has of weaning this club away from a mentality of largely kick and rush football adopted under Moyes and they're complimentary. Last season we were very good. This season, for a few reasons, we've let our standards drop below where we want them.

It takes time to make that transition fully.

Jagielka into Stones.

Stones passes it to Coleman, up to Lennon.

Lennon back to Barry who holds.

Holds.

Holds.

Back to Jagielka, Baines on the left looks for it.

Tidy into Barkley.

Barkley back into Barry.

Holds.

Holds.

Back into Jagielka, toward Stones now who runs with it.

Back into Coleman, up to Lennon.

Knocks it into Lukaku who passes it back to Barry.

Holds.

Holds.

Back to Baines who knocks it into Jagielka.

Rinse and repeat.

People call Chelsea boring... Watching us has been like watching paint dry at times this season. Our style invites teams to set up negatively against us and we have endless possession but do nothing with it. It's worrying considering how expansive our football was last season, I can only hope we sign some fast, athletic and direct players in the summer to bring a new dimension to what is quite a static squad at the moment.

The "we were awful Under Smith" is a line the Moyes apologists started once his honeymon period was over and people started to get disappointed with terrible games and his poor managerial decisions. It wasn't all bad under Walter, just like it isnt all bad under Martinez,

Yes the Smith years were a worry for blues, but his drill was to simply keep us up. The club was a mess, we had no money, couldn't keep any players if a decent side came calling, some people while they recall how bad we played at times under him need to also think about the state of play back then. Roberto has it easy in comparison to Smith and we seem to be going backwards.

Whats change there then

U joking, most of that game was totally slow and predictable which equalls boring. No hiding from that one Im afraid

Not from where I was sitting, my friend.

I thoroughly enjoyed the game......particularly the cavalry charge in the second half with Sesmus leading the way.

We must have had about 15 or 16 corners or more.

You don't get that many corners when the play is "totally slow and prefictable" ergo the sum is not "boring".

no one has been more critical of the crab ball we played earlier in the seaon than me.

But if you see trying to say that essay above sums up what happened today you are much mistaken.

It's not great at the moment Colin but when we get it right we're great to watch. Man Utd an example.

When we're at home against a team setup to stop us playing though, it's more than likely to be grim...

The problem is, we only play against teams of United's ilk six times if you include Spurs. That leaves thirteen games against teams setting-up to stop us play and we have been found wanting all season to say the least.

If today was a one-off, I could accept it. Sadly, it is the norm and why I feel the manager should walk.

As someone who's watching utter toss football I think I can tell: this Everton is boring in 90% of the times. This spring I've seen 10 times more sparkling, lively football from my No. 1 team than from Everton. And that's shocking really. I wasn't used to it and now I go every second weekend and watch real football games with pace, opportunities, goals, wins and beautiful football. It's like I'm in a paralell universe where things changed.
