He did win a PFA Players Player of the Year in 2005/6 (I think)...
As much as I despise the 'orrible little shoithouse, he was a good player in his prime. Zidane (no less) has stated he was (in his prime) the best in the world. I wouldn't have gone that far as I do prefer Scholes and Lampard above him, for the main reason that Gerrard is a cheat.
The Gerrard goals scored (and Lampard's for that matter) is skewed due to being the clubs main penalty taker.
If Scholes had taken pens for Utd, he'd have dominated in most categories.
I've had quite a look around the tinterweb and it's a close call between all 3 of them...
Zidane was a humble guy, he was never going to pick himself even though 95% of the world knew Zizou was untouchable. Gerrard in his prime was world class too. Remember Kaka, Seedorf, Zanneti, scholes, vieria and Keane all in there too, thats before i mention Xavi, Iniesta, Nedved, Makelele, the mid 00's were great for top class midfielders, now your either one or the other, i blame FIFA and Pro for thier postion names, SS is just one of them.
