ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

i love gerrard's farewell tour in his last two years has turned into such a damp squib. looked certain to finally win the league then single handedly messed it up. CL season in his last season - didn't get out of the groups, league cup looked as though he might win a trophy - failed in extra time in the semis. last merseyside derby was possibly the most dull in the PL era, given a glimmer that he may draw us again in europe (another competition) and they go and get knocked out first attempt. then it started to be noted that his birthday fell on FA Cup final day - his last game, chelsea and city knocked out in one day - all the better teams drawing eachother, RS with a gimme of a draw all the way to the final and they lose in the semis to aston villa. they go on a run and it looked as though they might even scrape their aim of top 4 until it comes to a crashing halt when he returns from injury and now they've turned turd again. even his 500th game today was a drab 0-0. there's literally nothing left now for a fairytale ending for someone who always seemed to have the script written for him.

his career is ending as a villain putting in piss poor performances for an average liverpool team who have achieved nothing of note for a while. the best he can do now is win a meaningless last game of his career.

Hate saying it (spits) wouldn't mind Coutinho.

he's not CL quality though, nowhere close. he's had a good season, not TOTY worthy, but a good season. but he's very average if you watch him throughout games. he'll have one highlight every 3 or 4 games which will get picked up on MOTD which makes him look much better than he is. he's largely anonymous in a lot of the games where i see. a brazilian osman, if ever there was one.

You could be right because I'm only going off the highlights I've seen of him.

on the other hand, would love to see someone explain how countinho is on the POTY shortlist ahead of eriksen. baring in mind most of coutinho's best moments have come in the FA Cup. his stats used by BBC are "completed 10 through balls in 2015" and "16 shots on target from outside the box".

excuse me whilst i sh*t the bed, what stats they are! 10 nearly assists and 16 nearly goals, that's 26 goals right there if football was played without keepers!

eriksen = 10 goals, 4 assists with a large majority of those goals crackers/last min winners.
coutinho = 4 goals, 6 assists

and that's just the paper stats. gylfi siggurdson 6 goals and 10 assists as well i must add.

Your all philistines, clearly yesterdays moral hammering of WBA was space age football unbeknown to those who cant understand the intricacies of the Brodge philosophey.

Leave this to Laser Markovic lads, you can keep your Hazard's and Sanchez's, he has this.

At least they won the passing.
