We've ALWAYS tried to get on the ball and control it never treat it as a hot potato - as Moyes and his nineteenth century methods dictated.
In fact, if and when Martinez goes (either short or long term) that'll be his legacy: breaking Everton away in the public's mind as being seen as a direct up and at 'em style of club to one looking to play through teams and control the game on the deck.
Let's just hope when that time arrives we dont crawl back into the primordial swamp Martinez dragged us out of after Sgt Major Moyes' years in charge. The School of Science has to remain open.
People say 'the clock is ticking'. It's not really though is it?
What's it ticking out on? Everton being in the drop zone with all we have going for us in terms of home fixtures, points in the bag, and the kind of utter tosh stuck in the relegation posts?
If Kenwright wanted rid of Martinez he'd do it. I've seen no indication of it.
Lot of dramatics and hysteria here.
Bottom line is this: if we beat Newcastle the season is clinched pretty much.
The clock is ticking - down to that match.
Complete revisionism. Martinez has conned you. He's not a forward thinking manager. His football last season or this season is no better than Moyes. He plays at least 2 dms and we still go back to front usually via a hoof from Howard. In fact this season the hoofing has been worse than ever, the only difference is 500 passes acrosd the bavk 4 have preceded it. Fellaini cast Moyes in a certaon light but before his arroval we had midfields of Arteta, Osman, Pienaar and Cahill, we were playing boss one touch football putting 20 tap ins on a plate for Yakubu. The difference was if Moyes had a midfield of his top players we would play a good style, if he had Rodwell Neville and Yobo in there he wouldn't ask them to play the same way. He'd go agricultural if it meant a result. Martinez is asking Barry Naismith and Lennon to play like Barca. He's deluded.
Cant sack him now but end of season goodbye. No real obvious candidate
