Why does he need to speak out? It'd just be interpreted as 'receives dreaded vote of confidence' and minds would race.
If you don't know why he needs to speak out then we are all wasting our time worrying about the plight the club is in,
mind you everything is okay isn't it Dav.?

Ha Ha Ha.

How in the **** does that signify anything?

I think this obvious lack of media interest proves that it's only on Everton forums that there's this doom and gloom outlook surrounding us. Maybe that's because they see us about a game or more worths of bad results away from the crisis some people on here reckon we're at now.

Lol.

SKY sports less sensationalist than GOT.

Now THAT is funny.

It's going to be sweet as a nut when this thing is stopped in its tracks and the momentum is with us again/

The sound of burning torches hitting the deck will be deafening.

6 points off relegation after 5th place finish last year. I don't know if it's sensationalist to suggest we should be considering our options, even if we don't end up getting relegated (and I don't think we will). But, moving forward, it's looking pretty grim right now. How can we have any confidence in Martinez after this season? What are the positives? How can he recover from this?

Momentum, really ? Where's it going to come from ? When we're not creating chances or scoring goals ? The most joy I can see us getting between now and the end of the season is the relief of winning a couple of league games and escaping getting dragged into a relegation dogfight. But we ain't going to finish anywhere near the top 10. And as for Europe, even if Kiev don't see us off, there's no way that we're getting beyond the quarters. Not the way that we're playing.

Next couple of weeks are vital for me. If we get dumped out of Europe by Kiev and lose to the barcodes, the clamour to get rid of Martinez could quickly become overwhelming.

The smart thing to do would probably have been to sack Martinez after the Boxing Day defeat against Stoke and appoint Pulis. Right now it's debateable whether there's any benefit in getting rid and appointing a caretaker manager. I think we should, I think a caretaker manager who uses systems and tactics that suit us and that the players are comfortable with would probably get better results.

i hope you mean pulis as some sort of temporary relegation saviour....not an actual real long term coaching solution....! :O

When we're not creating chances

there's no way that we're getting beyond the quarters. Not the way that we're playing.

That is what utterly baffles me. We are creating chances, (just watched the Arsenal & Stoke "highlights"). But results have been awful.

And in Europe, we have been sound. And look like we could beat anyone in that competition.

I'm a half full type of person. I'm also slightly rose tinted glasses. I get disappointed when Evertonians do something wrong, I like to think we are above some of the things other clubs get up to (Chelsea, for example). That is my confession.
Therefore I am annoyed at what is being said in the "for" or "against" Roberto debate. I don't believe any Evertonians would want to see the team beaten just to prove a point. A am sure everyone who wants Martinez to stay want that because they feel he is the best man for the job. I equally believe those who feel he should be dismissed do so because they think that is what is best for Everton.
I want Martinez to succeed, I want Everton to out pass every team in the league. I want to be dazzled at the "School of Science".
Unfortunately I don't think we have the players to be able to do that. We don't have the money to buy them. It pains me greatly but there it is.
In my mind there are two types of manager, the dogmatic type who has a style of play and he moulds the team to play that way, maybe bring in their trusted players to help. Generally the "hard to beat" type. Then there are those who can make the best of the players they have and adapt a style of play to suit the team.
Martinez appears to have fully bought into the tiki taki dogma but has not got the players to pull it of. He may be highly successful with a different squad in a different league. I hope he is as he seems a perfectly nice man.
I am in the camp that feels he should move on, I understand that we won't get a top class replacement at this stage of the season. We have won 6 in 28, surely we can get someone who can get us a few wins. I'm for Royle. Dunc and Shreds.
If what we are hearing is right and the senior players are seeking a meeting then I'm afraid end is in sight.
My hope is that Roberto will resign, just say it hasn't worked for him and go out on his own terms.
As I said, glass half full of rose tinted glasses !!!!!

Honestly, all this "Martinez out now!" is silly and smacks of desperation. People need to get real about our options if we were to sack the manager. We can all pretend we'd get Klopp or Perriera etc, but that isn't going to happen. We'd have Duncan like a deer in headlights and we'd end up with another legend who let us down. No one is going to turn this around except Martinez and honestly the players need to step up and take responsibility. Let's assume some of them aren't happy with the manager: how should we feel that they are willing to underperform and put our great club in jeopardy because they think this might force the hand of the board (and it won't btw)? Let's see where we are at the end of the season. I'd give him one more transfer window and until next Christmas. If there are malcontents, he needs time to get rid of them. And our season isn't done yet. As myself and others have noted: 17th and Europa is our best season since 95? since 87? Like most, I'm not at all confident that will happen, but frankly I DON'T KNOW what will happen. But I do know we are the last club in England in the Europa. And I do know that Martinez has as much chance of keeping us up as any available alternative. The time to sack him was Christmas and get Pulis in (before he went to West Brom). And honestly, that would have made me just as depressed in the long term.
