Relegation Fight 2014/2015

People have been making out that the results tonight have somehow pulled the rug out from underneath the Martinez plotters (if such a group exists). I'm making the point that the results tonight don't change anything. If the Martinez plotters did indeed exist then of course they would never wish relegation just to get rid of a manager. Equally even if Martinez stringed together a few wins it wouldn't change the opinion of a lot of fans. Bottom half mid table mediocrity is an utter disgrace for our club and that is all the stats you need to make a case for a change in management. If people want to support him fine, I really want him to turn it around as well and I hope he does. Do I think he will? No. Do tonight's results have any impact on how I formed that view? No. Am I glad we've decreased our chances of relegation? Of course. Does any of that change anyone's perception of Martinez? No.

but is anybody praising any of this situation, or saying its worthy of praise as you put it?

ive no interest in rugs and plotters and "utter disgraces" :)

Where does Martinez need to have us in December next year to retain your support?

Top half.

My position is simple: he's earned the right to get to lead us for another season (barring meltdown now). Then he has to sort this out in the summer, and his credit runs out if he makes a balls up of it from then on.

There's no free pass from me for Martinez. Far from it.

I just detest disloyalty and the fickleness on display here from some.

for me anywhere in the top 8 provided it's a close pack between 4-8. The manc clubs will throw a ton of money at their sqauds, Can't see the 3 main london clubs falling off either. We should be competing with the RS , Spurs, and Southampton mainly

He'll have to be ordered to reveal his transfer targets at the end of the season, and if it's a load of a mediocre British 'talent' that he expects to play tiki-taka with, 'down goes solo le mejor.'

He was everyone's hero last season though wasn't he? That's part of the intensity of the defence for me: how can someone be treated like that then dismissed so easily months later? Maybe if some get upset at how vehemently I support Martinez it's because they're having a mirror held up to themselves and they dont care for the ugly disloyal reflection they see staring back at them?

Just a thought.

The other way round though isn't it. It's you who is getting upset with them for what you perceive as disloyalty.

Their only loyalty is to the club they support.

I completely understand that viewpoint and I think the vast majority are happy for him to have at least this summer to clear things up.

We have to hope that loyalty is rewarded because it's a long road back if he has a nightmare transfer window followed by a poor start to the season.

Correct. With our squad we should be in the chasing pack. This has to be a blip rather than the norm.

I do not think anybody thinks anything other than that this has been a HORRID domestic season. A bollocks up of major proportion. Martinez needs to do a phenomenal, incredible job to fix this mess which he is in no small part responsible for.

He has the summer transfer window (and immediate games thereafter) to get things back on track.

AND I DON"T WANT TOM CLEVERLEY OR ANY WIGAN PLAYERS!!!!

Hypothetical question. We finish 17th surviving on goal difference. Would you still maintain Martinez deserves another season? If another team scored a few more we'd be down with the same performance. Is the minimum standard really premier league survival? It's not fickle to not back a manager who you've lost faith in. I backed him all through December and Jan when the football was terrible but the moment he brought back Howard for Robles thats when i lost faith. I don't want him fired now, but that moment showed that he had a solution in front of him to improve the team and he chose favouritism over it. If he's making choices like that i don't think he can turn it around, there's no indicators that he will. Im not bothered about giving him the time, i just dont want to waste another half a season when i think he'll never change. Hope to be proven wrong though.
