David Moyes will chase young talent.

we could use more cover in midfield and reativity is something we lack even with Arteta back in the side. Pienaar has come on a lot this season looking to be on the ball all the time which shows his confidence.he's having a great confed cup too!
dont know whether hibbert wasnt 100% or what but he was shown up really badly in the cup final. ashley cole ran rings around him all 1st half so a pacey right back who can defend and loves getting forward is a must in the window as far as im concerned.
If Mosey is thinking of youngsters rather then older players Fabian Delph would be a good option in midfield.looks like a cracking left foot there although would love to see Kader Kieta arrive from Lyon but that doesnt look likely now. manuel fernandes has talent and Moutihno wood be super signing!!
hopefully Yak comes back strong and stops moaning!!
MOyes always seems to leave all his buisness till thte last 2-3 weeks of the window which is a killer and always run outta time so hopefully we get some signings in sooner rather then later.gives them time to settle in also

Bit of a nonsense article really isn't it. We need a top class centre mid more than anything in my opinion.

Yes. A local reporter trawling the Everton forums and also quoting verbatim from a Sun story about Phil Neville going to Boro. And these ****s get paid for it.

One of the worst articles of this summer so far, if you ask me. Of course Moyes will be looking for young talent, but does that rule out 22-25 years old. Moyes said he wants to bring top players to Goodison and if he gets the chance to sign a 25 year old top player, I'm sure he won't decline that by saying: "Sorry mate, but you're way too old."

Sorry Wayne, I know you want to come back, but I can only sign under 14's. The Sun said so.

Agree. If Moyes find a top player available for a reasonable sum that's between 25-28, I'm fairly sure he will do his best to get that player to sign for us.

But if he gets the choise between a 20-year old and a 28-year old... he'd go for the younger player. But then, so would most managers. :dodgy:

Think its our buissness model really sign players young increase their playing ability and increase their transfer value if the need to resell them arises in the future.

Theres no resale value in the Miguels of this world.

Isn't that the case if we sold Lescott then? Or do you mean even younger?

If we were to get a centre mid, we should get Miguel Veloso or Steven Defour. Rather than M'bia. Both Defour and Veloso are young, hard defensive midfielder with skills and a knack of scoring goals. 12 -15million should do the trick.

Ding dang doo. Were sorted. Easy.

Main difference between those two and Lescott is that McFadden was a fringe player when he left, and AJ had dropped down the peckingorder (Yakubu ahead) and we had his spot covered with Vaughan and Anichebe. So we had the opportunity to earn relatively good money for benchplayers not really needed.

Lescott is a first-11 player, so not quite the same situation, but I see what you mean Neiler.

Moyes have an uncanny ability to find young talent and make them bloom so their value increases. But I think it's time we left the "buy-cheap-sell-expensive" attitude, since that, for me, is a sign for a selling club.

I agree mate but realisticly its the only way we can compete, we cant really afford to assmeble a squad at the high end of the market so we buy young and develop players in to quality international players.

On the pitch we then benefit from the longevity of our transfer outlay i.e. players could be at the club for 10 years and do a job on the pitch.

But of the pitch as well the value of the squad adds value to the the club. Id imagine when we are borrowing from banks they look at our ability to pay back what they are lending us, our biggest cash assets are our players if we have players in our squad worth 20 mill+ im sure banks look at that when their weighing up wheather they should lend to us or not. Im sure the club target players with a buy low - sell high approach if needed when they look at players to sign, in the last 24 hours we have seen an article about targeting young players.

Its a dangerous buissness model as its to heavely dependet on David Moyes and his talent. I do also think the final say on transfer goings come down to Moyes in the end. But our only other allternative is to look at the way Sam Allardyce did thigs at Bolton and sign players bigger clubs have discarded and try and get the best out of them. We tried this before we the Gazza, Blomquists and Ginolas of this world.

Im wholly against the sale of Lescott as i have said but if it does come to pass its an example of the clubs policy and in some ways protection system.
