Tim Howard

I suppose I will. have not heard what RM had to say either in the PM. I suppose it was an incredible display and a phenomenal fight back.

Not heard his post match myself, but others have said he's spouted more of his positively slanted claptrap after another shameful and largely woeful display.

Just found this on Toffeeweb.

Roberto Martinez refused to blame Tim Howard for Everton's frustrating 2-2 draw with Leicester City despite the goalkeeper's glaring errors at Goodison Park.

Asked whether he felt the American was to blame, Martinez was quick to defend him. “I don't see Tim as directly responsible of the draw,” Martinez said.

“The first one is quite an unlucky action. He gets in some sort of a block, it hits John Stones' legs and it ends up in the Leicester striker's footpath.

“We have three players around him and it ends up with him. I don't think it was such a major error.

“I don't think it would solve anything if we just single out the player who made that mistake. As a team we need to defend much better in those situations.

An increasing number of supporters have demanded that Joel Robles be reinstated to the team, but it appears Howard will remain as first choice when Young Boys come to Goodison for the Europa League round of 32 second leg on Thursday.

“Tim Howard is one of our leaders, one of the most solid performers,” Martinez said. “What he brings as a goalkeeper is his understanding with other players, what he has achieved in the game, and when he is fully fit, he is a very strong performer.

“His performance against Chelsea was outstanding and his performance against Young Boys, after the first goal when he doesn't see the ball, was terrific. I don't think that is the difference between getting three points and one point today.”

And some fans are not worried by the manager.

It's like Martinez wants us to hate him.

You wouldn't expect him to say owt else in public.

The problem I have with that statement us Martinez probably believes the same thing in private.

I make it 10 goals he is DIRECTLY responsible for.

2 v Palace at Home
1 v Liverpool away
1 v Spurs away
1 v Sunderland away
1 v Hull at home (near post)
1 v Southampton (pathetic kick out)
2 v Leicester today
1 v Chelsea away

Thats not including all round play which doesnt instill confidence, creates fear and negativity.
Not one match winning save.

Martinez MUST take fault for significant part of this since he come back in the team though.

I think thats being kind, could probably add a couple more in there, United away definitely.

Why did he keep kicking it towards lennon, the smallest player on the pitch, for all the first half. The tit

And when he burst out laughing when he sliced that kick, sent me mental

Like Toffeejack said, I doubt very much he was ever aiming at Lennon, because if he was, the ball certainly never would have got there. I think his fumble against Stones was one of the only times hes found a teammate this season...

The thing is, his performances are negatively affecting the entire team. Chelsea aside (as I think we expected to spend the majority of that game defending anyway), the last 2 games we have made plenty of chances going forward, but have looked panicky at the back, the way we havent since probably the Hull game. If him being there is putting pressure on the likes of Stones and Jagielka not to make any mistakes, Im pretty sure its affecting the attacking players too, as they all seem so much more cautious in attack today, like they didnt trust the defence so there was more pressure to score the chances we had. End of the day, once Naismith finally got the goal to break through their 10 man defence, that should have been game over, even when they make the attacking subs. Same as it should have been game over once we took the lead at home to the likes of Palace and Hull. But all 3 were gifted a way back in, and the team has never recovered once we have conceded.

I would expect him then to be more guarded on praising him as well. What no has picked up on is the inference that Howard is not fully fit!

To give Bobby his due, he does make one very good point in that statement.

In a team with very few,if any, leaders......Howard is certainly one.

It was him who was going to clock Cup of Coffee that time he was slagging off Seamus for scoring an o.g.

Jags just stood there like a lamppost.

What I found amusing was his first parry was into on onrushing crowd of players.... Then he's made a decision to do it again but with players less than a foot away from him!

The third one, the flap, if he had made good contact the ball probably would have gone about 8 foot at most away from goal, he wasn't trying to punch it! He was trying to palm it away.
