His footwork leaves a lot to be desired though, reminded me of the Gerrard free kick in the derby.

I guess you don't agree with my view of Howard then.and you could always try expressing your actual views rather than being a cumbersome antagonist like.

WrongThis has certainly devolved into something this relative newbie to the forum-an american at that- can't fully understand, but I have an opinion on the one goal that was let in last night (though it serves to be noted that Howard had his bacon saved by McCarthy as well in the second half).
1. The shot on the goal was top class. A looping curler that started outside the frame and the keeper was shielded from seeing it shot. It hit side netting first. It was always going to be a tough stop. I did not think that watching it live, but the field angle replay brings it home.
2. His play was not without fault though on the goal. As a keeper stateside, if I let that goal in, I would be kicking myself for not being on the line. His being five yards out likely gave the ball the room to curl. He had time to adjust back IMO before the shot. He also reacted late. I imagine Tim wants that one back.
3. He made several nice stops and holds as the game wore on. As he did against Chelsea.
4. In international play, the US lets in a lot of goals from crosses and set pieces. Howard's ability to play those well are surely suspect and criticisms there legit. He is not alone and grew up and learned the position at a time when the US game was not refined. He is still a world class shot stopper though and a superior option to Robles no doubt.
Great rebuttal. Mature and well thought out. You really made your point there.Wrong
