Tim Howard

2 games back and at whilst not solely to blame, he has been at fault for both goals conceded. Or as a few have said, he could have done better.

I've said it all season - he is making all the same mistakes this seasons that he has throughout his career, but more frequently and at a greater cost to us.
Joel may not be the answer, but he is young enough to learn and is showing that. Howard is clearly showing he can't learn at this stage of his career.

Palace x2 - Gave away a pen, and flapped at a cross
Liverpool - poor wall & positioning
Man Utd - Booting a ball back into play instead of into row Z
Sunderland - poor wall & positioning again
Spurs - pushed ball to Eriksen instead of wide.
Hull (h) - near post
Chelsea - near post
Young Boys - poor positioning. as soon as the striker received that ball you could see which side it was going.

I know it's not as clear cut as this, but removing these goals from the actual scoreline would put us 11 points higher in the PL, which is still within touching distance of CL/EL spots despite us being awful. Sure, the defence and team have been culpable as a whole, but Howard has been far, far below the acceptable standard this season for a team of our genuine ambition.

Bad start position, laughable dive.

He probs wouldn't have got it no matter what, but could have had a better go.
I agree with this. I don't have as much of an issue with his starting position though. Looks fairly centered, and a lot of keepers will be off their line in that situation. The dive was silly, and he could have taken a step first which he didn't.

My issue is that say he makes a better attempt, and as you say he probably still doesn't get it. Then he let's in the goal on the Hoarou volley, and we give up 2 goals instead of one. Because he's not expected to save that volley, people say he has a better performance because he made a better attempt on the goal, even though it still went in. I've seen this with games before as well. Drives me crazy.

The same outcome could and probably would have happened (with the chelsea goal too) with nine out of ten GK's.

Take it people are just blanking out the double save he made at 2-1 I think that kept us in control.

Watch the replay...he doesn't see the shot until it's too late...his vision was blocked. It's so obvious from the replay...the view behind the striker...he doesn't react until the ball is nearly halfway to the goal.

He's had a bad season but he's been good since he came back. It's harsh to blame him for the two goals he's conceded since he's been back. Sure, maybe he could have done better but it's hardly like he really messed up. One was deflected and the second was a great strike which he didn't have a clear line of vision for. Still think Robles shouldn't have been dropped tho and I hope Martinez gives him a run out in the return leg.

this is what i say, robles is taller and can reach them though, in fact i seen him make a few saves like it vs west ham in particular in howard's absence.

the main thing is he's not definitely too blame for both goals since he came back, but he merely makes us question whether he is at fault which annoys me. all the goals he concede seem to raise the question, could he have done better?

his distribution and the way he stuck on his line on every cross really pissed me off again last night. you think he would have learned somewhere down the line in his long career.

martinez has had a mare dropping a keeper with 3 consecutive clean sheets, last season it was all fine and dandy with everyone in form (except osman who played every fecking game!), but the players that have been out of form this season haven't been dropped and that's a bit sad tbh. he's not playing players on form, he's picking them on reputation, nothing to do with having favourites imo.
