Steven Pienaar

I agree about Pienaar and his pivot role for Baines although I doubt Barry's performance would ever improve as his current predicament is down to incredible slowness alone and that is never going to be reversed so the choice of personnel around him is altogether rather moot.

.....but Barry has always been slow, Doug. Nothing new there. His role is very restrictive, a Pienaar or Osman are usually his 'out' ball but unfortunately that isn't happening. Just my theory as a possible explanation.

His slowness has worsened considerably in recent weeks, he is a class act with the legs of a 40 year old. The availability of an out ball or otherwise becomes redundant when you are arriving so late for a tackle, hacking the player down or letting him waltz past you.

"Pienaar to join Moyes at Real Sociedad?"

Hope not. We need him asap!

Very valid point above about barry too. I said this 6 weeks ago or so. He's had NO out ball most the season.

No Pienaar - Who is an excellent out ball on the left to start attacks, either down the line with Baines or cutting inside.

No Barkley - Well limited barkley central, being available to receive the ball in the hole and charging forward.

No RW - Been a problem posistion all season.

Miralass, Pienaar, Barkley, Delefoe, even McGeady a little, all provided out ball options last season.

Pienaar at or near his best is an asset, but I fear he won't be fit enough for long enough to have any sustained impact on the team. Age and injuries account for that. Need a younger version, but couldn't tell you who.

No mate, he's just too old and has been utter [Poor language removed] this season.

Rumour that he's off.

Gutted if true.

Same. At £2m one of Moyes' best value for money signings along with Arteta and Cahill.

His link-up play with Baines when he was in his pomp will be talked about for years to come at Goodison as they formed the best left sided attack in the league for a time.

But if his legs have gone they've gone. Maybe a slower paced league like La Liga would suit him at this stage of his career.

What I liked most about him though was that he always played with smile on his face.

I'd be gutted if he left. Still our best winger bar Mirallas and arguably our most creative/intricate passer. Plus he makes Baines twice the player.

Unfortunately the injuries, age etc. may mean it's the right decision.

Wheres this rumour coming from tonight ... Social Media 100% Convinced he's off but where has it all started in the last few hours
