Tim Howard

I just don't think Joel has enough about him to be our no1.

For this season maybe, but not long-term.

Howard is a bloody nightmare and needs to be sold ASAP. He seldom boots the ball up the pitch, and seems obsessed with playing a dangerous ball to a defender which gets us absolutely nowhere and frequently leads to us conceding goals. Howard and Distin were an absolutely awful combination.

Hopefully Howard will go to the USA in the Summer, his days in the Premiership are numbered.

I have always been a Howard fan, but I am really hoping Robles keeps his place.

Not only is he starting to look much better with more game time, it's a big statement about the future direction of the club and the invest and trust in youth policy of Martinez.

Interesting decision ahead which goes way beyond who plays in goal next....

I don't have a problem with Howard but Joel has to stay in goal. He hasn't let us down once, besides Howards pressance on the pitch will just have the boo boys chomping at the bit waiting for any excuse to get on the players backs.

Well said.
Howard has had a shaky time but he has been a good goalie for us.

joel has had more good games in the few games he's played this season than howard has all season.

Feel safer with Joel, and if Howard waltzes back into the team shows Martinez has no backbone.

we are talking about a manager who played a 33 year old semi retired right back at left back, instead of a promising left back with 6 months on his contract and a chance to earn a new one, howard waltzes straight back in first opportunity

Thats RM for you and his long term project, just read the posts by DaveK and be bathed in positivity.

I personally think Howard should come straight back in when fit, I do think he should be told in the summer thats hes number 2 tho and we should purchase somebody to challenge Robles for the number 1 if he wants a move.

I think Martinez will wait for a Robles nightmare match to drop him.

We won that game.

So the manager was vindicated.

Robertonians 1 Plotters 0

:p

There are a hundred valid reasons to have a go at Bob this season....team selection for a game we actually won ain't one of 'em.

if garbutt joins the rs in the summer rm wouldnt be vindicated

i think thats the point of his post... not just the short termism of a result we prob wouldve gotten anywayy

absolutely wrong, we were terrible down the left hand side and poor in general in that game, we were lucky to get a result, like we were a few times in the early months of the season, and a failure to see that and do something about it then is one of the reasons we are in the rut we are now. It was the worst selection I've ever seen, worse than anything walker, smith or moyes have done
