I don't think you can liken it to the general election. More so to the Scottish referendum, perhaps. Same thing applies there, either you want independence or you don't. Abstaining is effectively a no vote. So just vote no!

FWIW I voted yes here and have absolutely no problem with the fact that the no votes will also contain 'possibly yes in the future' votes. That's the nature of this particular poll.

But it's not as black and white as that. Most of us want him to succeed but are losing/have lost faith in him being able to stop the rot. Black and white is the Damo/Davek world of 'you're either for me or against me and if you're against me you're a kopite' bollocks.

And have my vote used as a ringing endorsement of the current position ?

No thanks.

A bum will keep hold of a bag of his own mess because without it he has precisely nothing. It's a sad situation, but I can't blame the intellectually impoverished from cherishing their verbal diarrhea. Get enough of them together and instead of answering questions put to them they end up in a sort of sing song 'in the round'. They take turns to parrot what the previous one said in support and never address what is put to them/any.

The smallest of insignificant minds. Shame they oft have the largest cake holes.
You talk a lot for a man who thinks its stupid people that talk too much.

It reminds me a bit of the latter days of Colin Harvey's reign.

Everyone wanted Colin to succeed so badly that we all urged each other to give him a bit more time in the hope he would turn it round.....even though we could see no betterment.

Colin was and remains a well loved figure at Goodison.

Bobby has endeared himself to the vast majority of us in the short time he has been here and I think that us why so many of us are reluctant to call for his head.

If he is forced out in the near future, I for one will remember him fondly for re-kindling the dream, if only for one glittering autumn and winter in 2013/14 season.

And I am sure he will get a warm welcome any time he returns to the Old Lady.

I think this isn't the case here. Most of it comes from the results not being good enough and an upturn in form and results being needed. Hence the pressure on the manager. But I think he's shown that he has the ability to take us and better us as a football team. Time is needed, as well as perhaps a bit of a rethink on tactics and personnel. But he took us, changed us and improved us last season. It hasn't worked this season due to a perfect storm of injuries, loss of confidence and tactical and individual errors. However for me he has showed he can take us and improve us.
It has been a appalling first half of the season barring our European travels yet he can still turn it around.

Was thinking about it recently and I remember hearing about his vast knowledge on players around the world but I really can't think of a top player he has picked out of some random league for anything.

The only good signings he has made for us are the ones everyone knew about already and as for Wigan he spent nearly a million on Connor sammon.

The only player you can sort of give him credit for is James McCarthy.

I do like a lot about him but I honestly believe he bought into his hype too much and everything from he beginning of pre season was a shambles he shouldn't have been fannying about with the world stuff

If he is still here come next pre season (I think we Will manage to stay up easy when it comes to end of season) he needs
A big clear out of the distins howards osmans hibberts pienaar etc and replaxibg them properly and effectively.

Oh and alcaraz and Gibson to that too.

The pressing needs to return the quicker passing needs to return and using lukaku properly needs to happen he has 3 of the best young talents in the country in lukakuv stones and Barkley and needs to start playing to all their strengths. We have a 20 goal a season striker there get players in to improve his chances of scoring and we do better for it.

As it stands even though I was really annoyed with him after west brim what wehave is a average manager he is not awful or the worst we have ever had but he isn't a God like davek imagines him to be. He was the fresh air we needed but within a season he has quickly became the stale air moyes left behind repeating the same mistakes as moyes and his refusal to change.

Let's just hope he doesn't get us relegated for now. Which when you think of it is a bitof a disgrace to be in that situation with this squad anyway.

Sorry, I don't think I've explained it - irrespective of the minutiae of your opinion of the current situation, you either want him gone, or every other standpoint falls into the 'no' category, simply because it is not 'yes'.

If every Scot has stayed at home that day, would they have obtained independence? No. When voting for a change, abstaining is the same as voting for the status quo.

It seems to be a typical response of angry man...

when the poll delivers a result counter to your agenda.

Agreed with everything here, especially about pressing and quicker passing. We're giving teams too much time to play their game and we're giving them too much time to adjust their line while we attack. Barcelona play at a varied pace; their build-up starts slowly but once it gets to the final third they're usually passing much quicker, so defenders have to constantly reposition themselves, eventually getting caught out.

As for Lukaku, I'm not sure why Martinez signed him. He's a huge talent and I'm glad we have him, don't get me wrong, but he seems to be the exact opposite of the kind of striker that would work in Martinez's style. There's a reason Barcelona have Messi and not a 6'3 target man. We need to use him correctly.
