Kevin Mirallas

It was impossible for Baines, Jagielka, Martinez or anybody else to take the penalty kick from Mirallas without causing an almighty furore.
There would have been war on the pitch and it would have looked awful from an Everton FC point of view.
Mirallas did not want to listen to anybody , just look at Lukaku trying to get him to give the ball to Baines and as I have said before if Baines was the no. 1 penalty taker, them Mirallas was no.2.

It was an extremely selfish act. It was more about raising his profile even higher rather than gaining three points for his club.

All he has succeeded in doing is raising questions about his attitude and his temperament under pressure, after all he missed the kick when we badly needed the goal. Not a good night for Mirallas at all.

Where was Jags?!!

Farting around on the half way line when instead he should have been in the thick of it, telling Kev that he's not the penalty taker and given the ball to Leighton.

I love Jags but he needs to act like a captain.

Baines getting the blame on the radio, should have stood up to him..
He did everything but wrestle the ball off him, he asked him "are you sure?", and then slapped him twice on the face as if to say your a cheeky runt and being a bit of a tit.

Other than start wrestling the ball from each other and both looking like prats I don't know what Baines could have done.

If it's true Mirallas wanted to honour the player that died last week then it all becomes a little clearer doesn't it.

You can't blame Jags, everyone knows the pens are for Baines, how did Jags know Mirallas was going to go on a one man mission to take it, several key players were screaming at him to give it to Baines and he ignored them.

Pointed out on Sky sports - that if Baines had had a big bust up with KM it would have done him no good in preperation to take the pen hence he let KM take on the job with his dodgy Hammy or split finger nail!

I'm not blaming Jags, but the captain has to be the manager on the pitch. If players are bickering and arguing then you expect the skipper to be the one to sort it out.

Just proves that nothing is certain, and its easy to play hindsight manager.

I like Kev showing his big uns, Baines comes across a bit mard.

If the designated penalty taker, who has scored 15 out of 16 penalties, misses...its a rarity, a fluke, something that didn't go our way.

The designated taker who has slotted in pressure games. Decided games in the last minute.

Mirallas was a tit. Nothing more to add.

Incidentally, Naismith gets some credit for his after match interview, thought he dealt with it like a true politician, wouldn't even confirm if Baines was expected to take the pen.

There are obviously problems in that dressing room though.

He was back on the halfway line wasn't he with Barry, probably walks back there for every pen thinking Baines has got this.
