Michael Ball is GASH and so is that Hangeland.

Im sorry but I cant believe people are saying sell him for £20m, if we did that the bank would be all over the money asking us to pay off some of our loans/overdraft.

Moyes would see less than half. Or Bill would come out and say Moyes will have all the money to spend, then spend just £20m, ignoring the fact that we should have more.

Lescott has said he wants to stay, hes 1 of our better players, why are we even discussing this? Some people just want him sold so we can point and say, we paid £5m and we sold him for £xxm.

His value to the squad is far more than any price City would pay us.

Close the thread, hes staying. Thats final.

Wrong, and wrong again.

Amen.

Hating the summer already on here.

Its quite fun in a way, somebody should keep a score of how many players that get linked and how many we sign. I think last Summer we where linked for over 100 players and the none of the players we signed or loaned where even linked before they signed.

Its amazing how wrong people can be. I think the rule of thumb is, if we get linked with them, they arent coming.

Moutinho is the exception this summer, and we all know it....

We NEED to have cover for the different positions. Squadplayers that can go in without weakening the team too much. If we had 3 very good players that only can play as RM then I could understand your reasoning since we only need 2 (one on the pitch and one as backup).

Of course we NEED a decent back up centre half, nobody is disagreeing with you. But we also NEED first team players, especially in roles that we don't have (note I said role, not position - we don't have a ball winner, we don't have pace).

Let's take this to an extreme. Say this summer we sold Lescott (weakening at centre half) and signed Messi (improve the right wing). You'd be happy with that, yes? Even though we are weakening the backup centre half position. So, you presumaby agree that you are willing to improve one position at the expense of another in certain cases, if the incoming player is good enough.

So, it simply becomes a question of how good a player (or players) we get in return for Lescott. Those of us who would consider selling Lescott to City (that's consider, not want to) think that getting a £20m winger would be more than enough to improve to team - look at the quality of players you can get once you get into the £20m bracket.

So people want us down to 1 first choice centre back (until Christmas at least) and 1 first choice left back (for the whole season)? What if Yobo or Baines got injured? Oh yeah we'd be in the shithouse but then it wouldn't matter because we would have a nice fancy midfielder to pass the ball up before they get it and slam it into our net.
