Once McCarthy is back, I don't think we're going to see the Besic/McCarthy partnership as long as Barry is still here, because it seems like Barry is the first name on the team sheet.
If we had McCarthy, Gibson, Osman all got Barry would have been rotated a bit more I reckon. All managers have their favourite, Martinez trusts Barry but I think he would have liked to have given him a rest. My bet is on a Besic, McCarthy midfield for the RS at home

Yep I was pretty shocked when Besic was the one to make way last night,he was having another good game.

Deffo mate, was shocked tbh but I think if we weren't down to 10 men it would have been Barry but he thought Barry holds the shape at the back better with more discipline. Not saying I agreed with it but when we were 2-1 up with 9 minutes to go it was looking absolutely spot on as we had the control all over the park and all West Ham had in reply was to absolutely smash it as high and as far as they could and hope for scraps.

Yep give him his dues apart from leaving McGeady on for the second half(I'd have taken him off),he got it pretty much spot on considering we were down to ten men,the team held its shape really well for the remainder of the game IMHO.
The McGeady one was a real pain in the arse. I really thought he was superb 1st half and kept Cresswell and Jarvic pinned back whilst giving Coleman the opportunity to bomb on. So I was more than happy to see him 2nd half but on the 49th minute he went in with a stupid standing tackle that he pulled out if last second and I thought "time to think about getting him off". Martinez couldn't legislate for him to go in with such a stupid tackle, the type I would expect from an over enthusiastic 17 year old making his debut and not a 28 year old seasoned pro. Really poor poor decision from McGeady and really let the manager and the lads down with that which was a shame as he had the beating of there full back last night.

in some cases maybe, I'd say moyes had his favourites just as much as roberto, I know he's a bit of a joke on here these days, but heitenga played some great football in jags absence only to be shunted out on his return
