The fella is struggling big time for confidence as he's never been one who oozes it unless he's on form and the team are at it. There's no way it's getting taken off him and he won't relinquish it but it may be something in the summer that gets looked at. For a team like us anyway we should have a minimum of 5 captains out on the field. Too quiet, too nice and too soft.

To be fair to him he doesn't look at the camara ever when he's interviewed but I agree the job needs to go to someone else but can't see who myself maybe Howard

^^ That's a fair point.
Besic seems like he'd be up for it as do Naismith and Oviedo.
None of the others seem like leaders apart from James McCarthy (not sure how long he is out).
Martinez will defo be loyal though and not take the captaincy away from him, that's for sure.

We would lose our best CM (after McCarthy who has hardly played). He doesn't win many headers, up against dzeko he'd get humiliated.
Yeah, it'd be contingent on us having McCarthy back in CM.

On the height stuff: not necessarily an issue. Mascherano has played there for Barcelona and other what I delicately call short arse players have done it in the past. They do a job reading the game and stepping out to stop danger at source. It's not all about grocks countering grocks.

So it takes 1 season to be out coach how many years under Moyes? Not for me.

And, lets agree with your point, how spineless the players are at being physical with the players?

Liverpool are a big zonal marking team. But you'll be hard pressed not to find Lovren or Skertle ripping the shirts off the backs of players.

We don't even do that. And that to me is basics that the players aren't doing. And you can't coach out that . that's instinct.

There's no responsibility taken.

If you go from man to man marking to zonal than thats all you need to cause confusion, whihc is what we have. Players do not know who they are picking up. Against Hull, Kone had 5 players standing by him because the rest of the team where marking space; plus we do not have anyone on te pos anymore, quite strange considering Collins header would have had a better chance of being cleared.

You can't organise space, its that simple. A player running from the edge of the box is aways going to out jump a standing defender, thats basic logic.

And if we did what the RS did and were pulling the shirts off players, jesus, its a disaster waiting to happen

They should all be rallying.

I'm struggling to think of many 5ft 10in CBs that have made it in the premiership.

Even with zonal you still mark their best attacker/header of the ball.

The players are failing at the aspect.

Tbf to jags he can see what we all see that is a team that has stopped fighting or playing for the manager so like the rest of us just waiting for the axe to fall. Why should he rally the troops in support of an incompetent and unwanted manager.
Cos he is meant to be doing it for fans! It is sort of his job to strain every sinew and slog his guts out to get the best result possible for the paying customers. Not anti jags in fact and hope he picks up his form but players should always give their all for the shirt and for the fans.

Errr you actually don't mate, thats why its called zonal marking, you mark space and and your desegnated area. Thats why players will stand off at the edge of the box and attack when the ball is delivered. They have the run on the standing defender.

Baines should get it and he should consider it an honour. Rumour is though is that he's not interested in having the armband, hence why it's been given to Barry when Jagielka isn't playing. Very disappointing if true.

When you have 10 or 11 players in the box, 2 will be actually marking their key players on set pieces. The rest end up in zonal positions. These are usually your centre halves against their centre halves or striker.

Thats why this "zonal over man marking" system is usual rubbished by managers because, by default, it always ends up a mixture of the two leaning one way or the other.
