Can he though? You can count the decent performances he's had in the last year on one hand.

he started off the season on fire i thought. not been great last 6-7 weeks like, but literally nobody has. i can't see any alternatives tbh. barry shouldn't be in the team, eto'o same as and then there's no-one else. mccarthy's good, but he's probably too nice as well. feck it, give it to barkley and see how that pans out.

Jagielka was Moyes' choice as captain, chosen for the next season when Neville announced his retirement. At a time when it's highly likely Moyes knew he wouldn't be here.

However, I'd expect Barry to be Martinez' choice as he seems like his golden boy, and he's no better.

For the faults Martinez has shown this season, that game just nailed it for me that Jags or any of the players are not organising it on the field.

Its as clear as day. Its corners and set pieces, crosses time and time again. No one takes responsibility. No one barking to mark a player. Nothing.

He needs to watch some video of Tony Adams ffs

Been obvious for weeks, tbf.

They are taking the piss.

If they don't work on set pieces on training it hardly surprising Jagielka and the rest of the defence are all over the place and are not organised properly.

He does organise us mate, thats why we have training.

If he wants this type of barce play the back four need to be 15 yeards up the pitch, a tight compact unit ofdefense midfield and attack to constantly press.

The defence are to far detached from the midfield and the opposition are having acres of space, as evident tonight, they had the freedom to turn and run at us. 11 corners in the first half wasn't it, never seen an home side conceed that many

Thats completely separate from bollocking players, telling them who to mark, and hopefully the players taking the lead to do their job.

Add to that, doing the basics. Distin and Jags were a mess tonight. That is down to them panicking against a big, agile, striker. Headers, knock downs, tackles. Both worried and scared to do either.

And do you know why? Age. Doubt. The quicker, bigger the striker, the more an aging out of form defender panics

Messing up the passing is fine. But doing the basics is purely down to the players.

Think we have more pressing issues than a new captain, nobody stand's out as being a leader. Heard a few shout's for McCarthy, the lad is as quiet as a mouse. Think in the long term is could well be Stones.

We implement zonal marking, we don't go men for men; why do you think the opposition flood the box.

And good to see we don't have anyone on the posts anymore

Doesnt organize, doesn't give out orders, doesnt get into the ref, just plots along in his own little world head down, Could you ever imagine the likes of terry or vidic being like that, ffs even when you see Osman wearing the armband he does all of the above, hes 10x the leader that jags is

I'd have Besic and Stones starting against City and then keep faith with them for WBA if they look like a pair.

Distin and Jagielka are a relic now. They need to get their stuff together asap and sling their hooks.

Its a mix. Plenty of tussles in the box with our defenders and the opposition players. Its when the defenders just let players go, like tonight. We also tend to have 11 players back.

It also needs someone attacking the ball in a zonal system. No one does that.

It also needs a voice to organise. Keep players on their toes.

None of that happens. The players need to sort it.

They've been under Moyes for that long, they should know how to just go back to basics on the pitch.

Tbf to jags he can see what we all see that is a team that has stopped fighting or playing for the manager so like the rest of us just waiting for the axe to fall. Why should he rally the troops in support of an incompetent and unwanted manager.
