Lukaku hasn't been the same player as he was last season, whatever the reason is anyone's guess....

As for the others, I don't think Barry & Distin are not trying I just think time has caught up with them.....similarly with pienaar who can't stay clear of injuries (again probably an age thing)...

Injuries to McCarthy & Stones have made things difficult too...

That's 6 key players right there.....

Mirallas has been out a few times, so has jageilka & Coleman....barkley missed nearly 2 months....

If you compare that with other clubs, we really have had little luck this season, and now confidence is at a very low point....

And we've not had much luck with refs either....man city, stoke & Newcastle all should have clear red cards against us...

I'm not happy with some of Martinez decisions lately, too many players being played out of position for me....but I wouldn't be rushing to sack him, be careful what you wish for because there isn't a whole lot of good managers out there who would be available to us....
Its become a Cup season for us now, lets see how Martinez does in the Europa & FA cups before we judge the season...

Spot on.

It's the players jobs to perform to the best of their ability or, when out of form, at least bust a gut to try and change things.
It's also the managers job to make sure they know what's expected of them and get them in the best shape, physically and mentally to do their jobs.

At the moment, it looks like both players and the manager are failing.

Thank the lord.

Don't understand why the players suddenly stopped playing for Martinez as they did last season. The alleged rumour might have some legs in it.

They aren't even giving 60% and its up to the manager to find out why. He has to get them performing at their best and excelling. If the players can't give Martinez 100% then Martinez can't do anything to change it and would most likely resign

The players are below par but I think it's largely down to a lack of faith in the manager. I don't buy this dressing room mutiny although I certainly think words have been exchanged by Dustbin and martinez.

Let's be honest if you were a player and had to play in his dodgy ass inbalanced team selections all season/dodgy tactics and subs, wouldn't you be a bit fed up? I don't think it's maleovent as like has been said most of bobbys signings/wigan players played against Hull and were an abomination.

I think that's inevitable mate, I really see it panning out like that. I don't think they are performing at 25% of their potential and that puts Martinez on borrowed time as far as I can see. I've said it in a previous thread but it will take a miracle for me to change my mind about the players total lack of effort and professionalism lately. Go on a 10 game unbeaten winning streak and that might just do it or at the very very bare minimum, go out on that pitch and show me that you actually care.

I think it's such an easy critism to throw at players when the team is out of form.

To me they look completely lost in the tactics and setups and completely drained of confidence.

Now of course this is Persuming there still behind the manager. If not then he must of turned into one bad bell to cause such a reaction. Even then you'd expect divides in the team, which tbh I don't really see.

Could be well off here, and I'm sure if true it still shouldn't cause this current slide but I get the feeling etoo could be very disruptive in the current situation. I have no doubt he thinks he's bigger than everton and the manager!

Personally I just think roberto has just made to many mistakes with selections, tactics and too much needless rotation with players all over the show out of posistion. I mean seriously....we'v had Barry playing CB, barkley and etoo on the wings, Baines and now Naismith CM...it's ludricous.

Oh and take note roberto, Jose has made minimal changes to his top of the table side. Same with city (bar injuries)

Personally, I think they're way, way off giving these games in the past 6 weeks their best shot.

There's a lot of debate over the manger's role and polls for this, but nothing specifically about the players' attitude and responsibility.

So, are they giving it their best shot to get out of this slump or not?
you have gone from changing your reasons for this mess of a season from the fans wanting hoofball and not having patience to the players wanting the manager sacked within the last 7 days, not once did you mention bad apples and them wanting Martinez out before christmas

No. And they deserve stick for not challenging enough for second balls and not putting enough in.

Frankly I've seen more energy in an OAP home than in some of these highly paid players.

Disgrace.

This isn't the Everton way to underperform for the manager, I don't like this cowardice attitude from our players and if anything does happen to Martinez and we end up with Steve McLaren as manager then I hope they're pleased with themselves.

We don't have a choice as supporters, we support whoever takes charge but it's hard to believe that these players can play with our fate and decide who should be in charge
