Roberto Martinez discussion

Stones is good and will be class but he needs jags alongside him at the moment.

Jags is so underatred by evertonians it's untrue. Ok he's not the ball playing world class CB everyone wants but he's still a very very good defender. Terry would struggle in a RM team. more than jags tbh!

Jags is certainly NOT the problem in our team or defence for that matter. That's for sure.

Van Gaal doesn't have united playing hoof ball. They play quickly and directly, there's a difference.
quite right I would never call it hoofball but watch how quick they go front to back while maintaining their defensive shape in midfield and defence.

I agree, i think we miss jags a lot more than people think when he's out, need him at the back.

People really need to wake up! Conceding the second most amount of goals in the league is relegation material and extremely alarming, especially when you look at Martinez' record and see that it is the norm for his sides.

And with regards to style of play, the reason everyone is moaning at the match, and the reason why the atmosphere at Goodison is the worst it has ever been, is because the brand of football on display IS ABSOLUTELY CACK!

It is boring, unexciting, NEGATIVE CACK, that very often contributes to us LOSING games! I don't know about you, but that is not the brand of football I want to see at all.

Brenda has had time and lot's of money to get over his mistakes, RM is too set in his way's at the moment. But he will get it right in time.

We are 5 points above Hull who are 17th, Hull win they jump up to within 2 points! For us ATM there is no easy game to bank points so for me this is very worrying as there dos not seem to be any idea about to turn this round. So when you say "get it right in time", how much?

When he won the league with Swansea they conceded 42 goals in 46 games. He then finished 8th with them in the Championship the following season conceding 50 goals in 46 games - still not exactly terrible.

Obviously at Wigan his team conceded a lot of goals but most Wigan fans will tell you he worked wonders keeping them in the division for so long.

The first Arsenal game was the more instructive for what's going on now. Look at how we passed the ball that day from the back and kept hold of it in our own half and in theirs.

That's what we should be aiming to do at all times. Retain the ball and pas through teams and get our moments right to get people wide and forward.

That was our best performance of the whole Martinez period so far, and it came on his terms. Ergo, we need to get back to that, and if we cant do it with the over the hill puddings currently there then we need to allow Martinez the time and money to bring in personnel who can do it. This is still largely a Moyes squad.
Loved watching that game, but I must say Arsenal have a habit of letting teams play.

Around the time we become a complete laughing stock I hope.

A team of our quality shouldn't be sat in 12th and season over by Christmas. For me it's simply unacceptable, he needs to massively turn it around but I have my doubts whether he can or not.

For me he's lost the dressing room, players playing with no heart or fight and that's one thing that you could never accuse an everton side of lacking.

This.

Why are we sh*t to watch? I actually am BORED watching us, I look forward to seeing us play but I'm bored within the first half an hour, and the way Martinez goes on about having a philosophy and being stylish, surely if anything we should be good to watch if not successful in winning?

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

His record for conceding goals in the premiership is god-damn awful. He's taken a strong Everton defence, and turned them into a group of nervous wrecks who now have the second weakest defence in the league. Unfortunately, I think this trend will continue, and I see us being on the wrong end of a few more beatings before the season ends.

Hopefully we will stay up, but that will be the time to get rid of him. See out this season and then get someone else in. Someone who realises that using the exact same chat-up line on every person you meet may prove successful for a while, but it eventually turns you into a laughing stock that has no credibility.
