My biggest problem is Naismith.

Individually he deserves to be one of the first names on the team sheet. However, I maintain that him and Lukaku do not work when the former is playing off the latter. But Naismith is only good in that position.

Personally I think we need a change in formation, perhaps:

Robles
Coleman Jagielka Distin Baines
Barry
Besic Barkley
Mirallas Rom Kone

Or something like that. A 4-3-3 with aggressive pressing out of possession could work. It'd give us a bit of pace on the counterattack and make us far less predictable. Kone has played LW before and is very quick, but we could have McGeady on the right and Kev on the left, assuming Kev is fit. Obviously if James is fit then perhaps he'd come in for Barry?

The problem is that Martinez is very very stubborn. He believes in his system even when it's plain as day that it's been exposed and abused multiple times this season. He will shoehorn his favourites into the team even if it means players playing well out of position, without having to. He will not play to the strength of his players, bar Naismith. And the Albino Messi really is my biggest dilemma. On one hand, I want him in the team because he's a good player with a great attitude. However, I maintain that we are a worse team up front with him in his preferred position.

It's a bit like Cahill -- I remember saying that our strikers were not scoring because Timmy didn't link up with them well enough, and if he stopped scoring then we did. It's fine funneling your attack through your striker, if he scores for fun. But having the team play to create goals for an attacking mid/support striker who will only get 10 a season is surely not good maths?

I stopped reading after I saw 'Robles'

RM has to get a balanced side with a winger in front of Baines and Coleman - Eto is a substitute only - RM has to stop fitting square pegs into round holes by choosing iconic players names - he should play a team on merit, and not tinker with a winning side!

Assuming McCarthy isn't fit I would play:

Howard

Coleman Jagielka Stones Baines

Mirallas Besic Barkley Pienaar (if not fully fit then McGeady)

Naismith

Lukaku

If Baines has a piss poor game with Pienaar in front of him then I would drop him for Garbutt. If Oviedo is fit then I would like to see him given a chance. Barry and Distin shouldn't be starting, Eto'o should only come on off the bench and if Lukaku isn't playing well then get Kone on, either alongside him or instead of him.

if we win that will leave us on 666 (wins, draws, defeats) a brilliant incentive if ever there was one. when the hell did we win 5 games?

Rest Baines, he's knackered and although paid stupid amounts of cash cant take a corner

Howard is statistically the worst keeper in the Prem so far.

Robles hasn't looked great but it's more about sending a message to Howard. If your player thinks he's guaranteed to play every minute of every game, even when playing awfully, then that is not a good thing.

Robles is shocking and shouldn't be anywhere near the club never mind the first team. Whilst I agree that Howard hasn't been great either it is simply madness to shoe-horn a worse replacement to prove a point...play your best team..Howard is part of that like it or not

Depends if Mirallas and McCarthy are fit I suppose.

If they are......

Howard
Coleman, Stones, Jagielka, Baines
Besic, McCarthy
Mirallas, Barkley, Pienaar
Lukaku

If not, then lord help us!

Good team.

Besic rolls Royce ??????

You must have watched some poor players then, what next world class,up there with Jonathan Walters

Seriously people need to take a step back, the lads got potential,he's also got a potential red card every game
How many reds has he actually got?

How many starts has he had????

How many times has he looked like he may have been booked in games more than once?

How many convictions did Harold Shipman have before he got nicked????

Because they're exactly the same thing :-)

He hasn't looked like he would get any because he makes the crunching tackles before he picks up a yellow and then stops once he does. Plus his crunching tackles aren't dangerous ones. In one game in Europe he picked up a yellow in the first 10 mins and practically never even made a foul after that yet was still very effective.

It's called being a good tackler. I know tackling isn't very popular at the moment so it can be difficult to see one when they come along.
