Couldn't disagree more. Besic is a a rolls royce and Barry is a Ford Focus. Miles apart.

Fair enough, but I think you need your own physical presence against Stoke which Barry's stature allows. Of course Besic can come off the bench if its not working.

Besic rolls Royce ??????

You must have watched some poor players then, what next world class,up there with Jonathan Walters

Seriously people need to take a step back, the lads got potential,he's also got a potential red card every game

You read that wrong. I'm talking in comparison to Barry not in general.

My biggest problem is Naismith.

Individually he deserves to be one of the first names on the team sheet. However, I maintain that him and Lukaku do not work when the former is playing off the latter. But Naismith is only good in that position.

Personally I think we need a change in formation, perhaps:

Robles
Coleman Jagielka Distin Baines
Barry
Besic Barkley
Mirallas Rom Kone

Or something like that. A 4-3-3 with aggressive pressing out of possession could work. It'd give us a bit of pace on the counterattack and make us far less predictable. Kone has played LW before and is very quick, but we could have McGeady on the right and Kev on the left, assuming Kev is fit. Obviously if James is fit then perhaps he'd come in for Barry?

The problem is that Martinez is very very stubborn. He believes in his system even when it's plain as day that it's been exposed and abused multiple times this season. He will shoehorn his favourites into the team even if it means players playing well out of position, without having to. He will not play to the strength of his players, bar Naismith. And the Albino Messi really is my biggest dilemma. On one hand, I want him in the team because he's a good player with a great attitude. However, I maintain that we are a worse team up front with him in his preferred position.

It's a bit like Cahill -- I remember saying that our strikers were not scoring because Timmy didn't link up with them well enough, and if he stopped scoring then we did. It's fine funneling your attack through your striker, if he scores for fun. But having the team play to create goals for an attacking mid/support striker who will only get 10 a season is surely not good maths?

Bit harsh on Barry,he's been exposed while on the ball as there is a complete lack of movement in front of him, same goes for Distin and Jags while on the ball

It's great Besic throwing tackles everywhere on old men v QPR but play against and quality quick moving side and he's getting red carded

Has to be said although the defence has showed big cracks when put under pressure lately, what exactly are the front 4 doing in our team at the minute. They don't press that's for sure , when our defenders are in possession they aren't showing, they only come alive when we are 20 yds from goal and suddenly all 4 start showing short leaving 0 players in the box and nobody running in behind unless coleman or baines have pushed past them. Against Stoke if we leave them un pressurised they will put great balls into the box and crouch will kill us.

Whenever he knocked others out, I am sweating because he may get a red card.
It will happen sooner or later, You can bet on it. And it highly relies on the ref's attitude: against QPR he made the toughest tackles I've ever seen from him but 90% clean ones and the ref hasn't blink an eye on him. I agree on this one with @Titus Bramble , I think Barry should start because of his strenght with McCarthy or Barkley in pair with him. But the most important thing is that Barry and Besic shouldn't be together in the pitch, it just doesn't work.

I'd start with 3 at the back and push the two full backs right up.
I'd also drop Barry, and Lukaku. I'd start with Kone who looks like he can hold up play alongside Naismith.

May be a bit dodgy to some but I'd go with a 5-3-2/3-5-2. Gives us more defensive stability and also gets some of our better players into their favoured positions.
Howard
Stones Jagielka Barry
Coleman Besic McCarthy Baines
Barkley
Naismith(Mirallas when fit) Lukaku
