That's what we need, last season we started with 3 draws and got a backs to the wall victory against Chelsea which really kickstarted our season. We need the same at the Etihad. At least it will be a totally different game, a bit like Wolfsburg so you never know.

The thought of Distin playing aguero says to me that we will let in atleast 3.

Wigan fans did say this like.

I'm absolutely flapping now after hearing this, a sudden wave of reality hitting the sh*t fan, where are all these formations Martinez was trying to blag us with at the start of last season, they never did show up did they except for a couple of blasts at 433, the fella hasn't got a clue

I feel absolutely sick after that, worst game in 3/4 years I reckon...Really question his Subs/tactics tonight. I'm past the point of fuming here.

Martinez: "I think Hull made it very difficult for us to gain momentum, but that is a compliment and we need to learn from it."

MADE IT DIFFICULT FOR US?! They offered absolutely nothing all night. How about we actually play balls into the box instead of passing it around our centre-halfs and goalkeeper?

We could and should of scored at least 2 in the first half, Lukaku being the worst culprit

Another in the first half would have definitely taken the game past Hull. You can't be completely crap in the second half though and say you deserved to win purely because of the first half.

Just can't believe how flat we were after half time. Martinez should have them fired up.

Wasn't Eto'o on the bench? If yes, why on earth wasn't he used?

Roberto needs to develop a plan b, maybe a slight bit of tactical naivety some could call it arrogance perhaps... I mean it's irrelevant where we play he retains the same tactic, we are good but not title contenders, we do need to mix it up a bit, especially when we go to places like old trafford, anfield, city of manchester, stamford bridge... does he really think we can pass a team like city/chelsea off the park? Not only that but also when we're playing against teams who set up to counter our tactics e.g today and sunday, we can't pass through everyone. PLAN B!

Also if you can bear to watch the highlights, look how disinterested the players look when they lose possession in the build up to their goal, if we are to play possession football, when we lose it the players need to learn to try and win it back immediately otherwise it's pointless.

that's what happened on sunday, did you not learn from it then?

We don't have Fellaini. We're a small team who loose every 50/50.
I know. However, at least in a 50/50 there is a 1 in 2 chance of winning the ball in the area.

Even if it was 1 in 3, then it would have been better than the tepid and ineffective build up play today.

Bit or urgency and guile is sometimes needed, as we simply aren't getting ourselves into a position to even get a chance.

He never learns though

Typical RM post match interview:

Sky Sports Interviewer : "what did you make of that Roberto"?
RM : I thought we were incredibly focussed, in a good moment of our football, but just could not get the second goal to kill the game. But I am incredibly proud of our performance"

What I would have said:

Sky Sports Interviewer : "what did you make of that deipnosophist"?
Deipnosophist : "We were phenomenally crap"
